Hi. Apropos the discussion of high speed RF hardware, I point out that
digital video broadcasting is developing some neat stuff that may be
usable for our purposes. LSI Logic (http://www.lsilogic.com) has a
bunch of ICs intended for consumer DVB receivers that do QPSK
demodulation, Viterbi decoding and Reed-Solomon decoding at data rates
up to 50 megabits/sec. They seem to have a variety of packages, some
highly integrated and others broken into more modular pieces.

Is there a version of ETHRAX25 that works with the Ottawa PI card?
I was looking at the PI card packet driver, and saw that you could
recompile it to have an Ethernet type, but it doesnt use AX.25
callsigns (I guess it just spits out ethernet frames onto the radio).

The packet driver is specific to the interface, not the protocol. PPP
and the FTP Software packet driver interface should be defined in config.h

#define PACKET
#define PPP

I think most versions of KA9Q support the packet driver. You also need to
run the packet driver TSR before starting KA9Q. These drivers are
available from ftp.crynwr.com.
