Hi all:
Here is a problem I can't recall happening to me before. I am using
WinAPRS. The only icon on my screen is my own. All the lists show only me.
With WinAPRS in the terminal mode I see all the stations I usually do when
I enter MHeard on the Kam and of course I hear the other stations. I
believe this started after I briefly used another APRS program. Perhaps the
other program changed a parm in the Kam but darned if I can find it.
WinAPRS Display is All Stations. The program and the Kam are communicating
fine in the TX direction but it seems that the received data is not making
it to the pc. Any suggestions?

Check to see if you're getting one line per packet received or two.
Check the "HEADERLN"? command. Most APRS programs want to see one
line per packet, with the header and the info on the same line.

hello everyone.
Last month I was on a trip to Iceland. I found that it was void of any
APRS activity or at least any that I could find. Ill be going back there
in the next month or two and would like to know if anyone knows anything
about APRS in Iceland or has anyone ever monitored APRS packets
originating from Iceland?

UI-View32 will run a cross-band digi quite well, and be an IGATE
at the same time.

Does the D7 need a regulated voltage on the battery contacts, or can I
run 13V from the car straight in?
I'm missing something, what is the connector that must not be named?
I really like this idea. I was trying to put together a cable that
supplies power to the D7 and my GPS as well as providing data from the
GPS to the D7. It would be much neater to use this battery case than
to glob a wad of solder joints together and cover it with some epoxy or
something.

PowerPole connectors are a great way to do this, and is what he was
referring to I believe. There's been much discussion on this list about
these connectors and many people use them everywhere (including myself).
They are, to me, a great benefit to common power management. ARES groups
around the U.S. have standardized on them. The going argument is that not
everyone will have them, so you will still have to strip, twist,
solder/crimp etc. This is not disputed. I carry extra connectors and wire
in the truck, and I also have cigarette/accesory to powerpole adapters as
well as some with just wire on the ends and power poles on the other etc.
I'm ready to adapt, and I can do it once, and then have a power bus that I
can plug all of my stuff into without having to have a lot more wires and a
huge mess of combined buses all twisted, soldered and taped together.

What cannot be disputed is the fact that you don't have to worry about
having the right gender on an APP. No one is going to have every
connector. The fact that you don't have to worry about having the right
gender is reason enough for people to consider using them whenever
possible. No, RS does not carry them but then again it's getting hard to
find anything useful in RS. As it's also been pointed out, some hobby
stores carry them because they're used in R/C cars.

I believe most groups have standardized on the 15A/30A APP
connectors, but I have seen no discussion on anything larger. The
15A and 30A will connect together. Anything larger uses another
shell/connector size.
I suppose if we standardize on the 300A APP connectors for anything
higher than 30A, we can build the whole TNC inside the shell...

I just did some wiring in my car for an HF rig, and the Anderson 75 amp
connectors are pretty nice -- not so huge that they're hard to work with
(they are just like the 30 amp units on steroids), and they have pins
available for 6, 8 and 10 gauge wire.

Hello all and thank you for responding. I ended up doing a hard reset and
am now back in business. As for using UI-VIEW32 with the Kam as a 30m>2m
gateway, I'm not sure this is the right forum for discussing this. I have
been unsuccessful in setting the program up for this mode. There is the
UI-View SIG, perhaps I should contact either one or both of you off this
SIG for some pointers.

shows one mesoscale discussion area, a severe-thunderstorm watch area,
and a severe-thunderstorm warning area.

Can someone spare the time and trouble to compare this to the display
on a known-good renderer of multiline APRS objects? I think I have the
algorithm right but a couple of ambiguities bother me.
For one thing, while the spec implies there's little reason to choose
offset scales other than integral powers of ten, in fact others seem to
be used; I want to make sure I'm getting that right (an error will show
up as one or more areas being the wrong size).
For another, though I've double-checked, I can't shake the feeling I
may have the sign reversed on either the vertical or horizontal axis of
the offsets (would show up as an area being flopped vertically or
horizontally, or if I blew both, rotated 180deg).
I know I'm asking a favor, so thanks for any assistance!
