Subject: 9600 sound card packet
From: Wes Johnston <wes@johnston.net>

Anyone run 9600 via a transformer coupled sound card interface? Just me
thinking , but wouldn't simple optoisolators work too? I mean, if we had
an opamp setup as a limiter which would allow us to snap back and forth
from 0 to 1, and have the correct deviation, would all be well? Or would
this "snap" cause splatter? Do the audio transformers have a good enough
low frequency response to do 9600?

Wes

May be you should ask the question(s) in the SV2AGW group:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SV2AGW/ . There is a lot of answers in the
message archive.

Did you try a RTS-CTS bridge on the PC side of the RS-232 connection?

Subject: Anyone playing with Cybiko APRS?
From: "Jason Rausch" <ke4nyv@hamhud.net>

I bought 2 classic cybikos off ebay for about $20. I have only had them
for about 4 or 5 hours and I already have one talking to a KISS TNC and the
UI Gate up and running. I was really surprised at the range. I am on the
ground floor of a 3 floor apartment. I walked up to my truck (actually
level with the second floor) and I was able to send packets to the gate and
see them pop up on my HamHUD II.

I was wondering if anyone was playing with this to maybe planning on
setting up a UI Gate at Dayton.

I picked up one several months ago knowing there were some APRS apps for
it. I was just telling Bruce KQ4TV the other day that I needed to sit
down and get that all running with my PK-12 and Icom u2AT (micro 2AT)
radio. If I make it up to Dayton (big if) then I'll see about getting it
running.
