Wes's intention was the other way around, to feed IGATE traffic to a local
QRG without the 3rd party header. You want to feed HF traffic with a 3rd
party header.
So now I have two features for the wish-list; convert to third-party on
reception and to convert from third party on transmission... I should have
know... I noted it.
Kind regards,
Henk.

Advantage of Linux is that you can also run some other applications at the
same time. Even if you only use it as a digi you can add some programs to
do remote maintenance. If you make it pure DOS you have to ass some packet
program so do this and customize the .bat files to start that program after
you exited DIGI_NED. Advantage of DOS is that it is easier to setup and
works on a 286 class PC (although to save power an industrial 486 PC or an
old Laptop is better).
I just made a slight change to DIGI_NED for DOS. I no longer use "cprintf"
to print directly to the videomemory but use "printf" so the output goes to
the CON driver. I tested it with the following DOS commands:
C:> mode com1:9600,n,8,1,none
C:> ctty com1
Now all output is send to COM1, also the output of the changed DIGI_NED (in
the distributed version the output of DIGI_NED still goes to the screen).
I have send this version to one of the users to experiment with, if more
people would like to have it than I can send it to them too, just drop me
a line. You can do the change yourself also if you are able to compile the
source; in the source file "output.c" just replace "cprintf" with "printf".
Kind regards,
Henk.

With PocketAPRS on my Palm IIIe (non-replacable PalmOS 3.1) it stays up,
but when it passes midnight it forgets to update the date. After that the
date is stuck. To fix it I have to perform a soft reset. I hope the other
solutions do not have the same problem. I have forgotten to tell Mike
Musick about it, I hope I still remember it when he returns on the APRS scene.
Kind regards,
Henk.

That should work fine. We tested with a PA0HZP OptoPcSCC card. DRSI ik
known to work fine with TFPCX and since AX25_MAC uses the same driver I
expect no problems. Linux is not a problem at all of course, there is a
Z8530 SCC driver to cover these type of cards. I guess there must be some
French stations using this, DRSI cards are used a lot in France (Like
PA0HZP cards in the Netherlands and BayCom USCC cards in Germany).
Kind regards,
Henk.

The fuse is on the lower right with the RJ 'under' the PCB and towards you.
It appears to come off of pin 1 of the RJ. It's a tiny little sucker...
You could put a 78L05 right there with the output over to the bridge
output, that way you can feed 12v up the data cable, or still use 6v on
the jack as 'stock'.

Subject: TM-V7A and 9600 baud packet... Anyone?

All,
Has anybody here ever used a Kenwood TM-V7A on 9600 baud? I've got it
all hooked up to my KPC-9612 and it keys fine, but no audio is coming
through. I've verified all the connections and all seems well. Has
anybody successfully used this combination of TNC and Radio before? If
so, could you contact me off list so I can compare some things between
our setups?
Thanks!

Dosen't this radio have separate 1200 and 9600 audio inputs?

SLOTTIME can only be set as low as 1 on the UIDIGI firmware.

Equivalent to 10 ms - still pretty short. Then there's always fullduplex...

I love how this sounds like we were all issued a document, at some time in
the past, that said what all these settings should be, nationwide, but then
we just started deliberately screwing with things to see how much we could
hose up the network..
What I remember, is more along the lines of a lot of different
recommendations, and local standards, and a bunch of argumentation on what
things should be, would or wouldn't work, etc etc etc.

Sorry, I guess that is my fault. I just assumed that everyone read
DIGIS.TXT, and understood how it all worked. Now I see that I was terribly
wrong. There were just so many nuances that were involved in setting up
APRS, that I now realize most people never dug into it that deeply.
By the time I noticed that digis were being set up in strange ways, there
were dozens and dozens of opinionated web pages with WRONG info telling
people how to do it. It was impossible to clean up. SO I let it go,
just figured eventually they would see the damage that these errors were
producing...
But now I see that not very many people look at the overall big picture
anyway, and only care about what they see on their own screens (nothing
wrong with that, its just human nature...)...
..
SO its time to start hammering the system into shape. I just wish I had
more time to devote to helping get things set up right...
And you are right, Digis.txt did not give a good set of instructions
either, it just tried to give the top down view, but didnt tell the WHY of
all the settings... nor list them...
