Thats "ok" Bob. I can understand your frustration perhaps
at the City of Sydney for pushing thru this silly motion, based
upon events from 1788 and the arrival of the "First Fleet".

Please don't be too hard on all the Sydney councillors, as some
were opposed, and mayhave thought it ridiculous.

It is so hard to be a public elected person, anywhere now, as
one is not allowed to voice their personal likes and dislikes
and iron things out, then they get bent up and stack up over
the years.

The natives may call us, "invaders", but then whom did they
displace? Weren't they invaders too? Where does it end?

You scribed about all the monies paid to them, and other items
the average taxpayer has to foot the bill for. The same happens
here, and thus we have native reservations set aside, and they
get monthly or yearly grants of money etc.

My community is on the border with a reservation and every time
in the store, we see a ID card being used that gives special
priveledges. I also see racial discrimination and resentment
to them, and well it is always ongoing and denied.

"Invader" tag by Sydney is not truely earned, as those people
from the so-called "First Fleet" were prisoners sent to Australia.
I am sure there are enough stories to cover their experiences,
and thus landing, they weren't exactly "settlers" either as
prisoners of the country that sent them there, and I guess lots
of stories there of up against the land, as well the guards
watching them. I have only read a few things on these "invaders"
which doesn't suit this label applied to them.

I think the decendents of the natives on city council are making
truely fools of themselves with this, as if the native population
suffered, well so did the "prisoners" forced to be "settlers"
as they certainly were not invaders.

Lets surely weigh the bad points with the good. Is Australia
better off, now or before the ...lets call them all Colonists
arrived. I think so. I think and believe this went too
far.

I get the impression from the history accounts I have read, that
the military there served many roles not found in any other part
of the empire. <1> Guard the prisoner-colonists in case they
rebelled ..1788 was close to the American Revolution so a possible.
<2> Guard againist a forign power invading. <3> Guard against
native revolt.

Time will tell now how long this joke is allowed to go on....
