Greetings.
Here's a question for any Sony SW100 owners.
I have had both a SW100 Mk1 in the past and I also own a Mk2.
The difference is that the Mk1 suffers BADLY from failure of the either
one or both of the flexistrips that connect both halves of the receiver
together. Sony produced a mod kit but alas it's not the panacea to it's
inherent problem :-( Put simply the clamshell design inherently damaged
the flexistrips when the case is snapped together.
My Mk1 soon had a date with the dustbin after about a year.
The Mk2 two appears to have solved the. The Mk22 can be identified by
looking at the top half of the receiver and looking for an indent about
two thirds of the way along which covers the larger flexistrip.
I've now had this receiver for 3 or 4 years and so far I can detect
no failure.
However one problem appears to have emerged and that is that the
receiver intermittently switches itself of from seconds after switch
on to minutes afterwards.
At this stage I do NOT suspect a flexistrip problem but I may wrong.
So I am wondering if any other owners have come across this problem
and managed to discover the problem and hopefully effect a cure ?
I am loathe to take apart this diminutive receiver since I do not have
a circuit diagram and - well...have you ever tried to service these
receivers :-) ?
