Carl Louis Goatcher

Funeral services for Carl Louis Goatcher, 90, of Kimberling City,
will be held at 2 p.m. March 17, 2009, at Stumpff Chapel-South in
Kimberling City, with the Rev. Kimberly Cunningham officiating.
Burial will be in Philibert Cemetery under the direction of
Stumpff Funeral Homes. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. March 16,
2009, at the funeral home.

He died March 13, 2009, at St. John's Regional Medical Center in
Springfield.

He was born Jan. 5, 1919, in Troy, Kan., son of William and
Lottie Goatcher. He graduated Missouri Western University in St.
Joseph. He worked for Western Union then Rosecrans Airport in St.
Joseph as meteorologist and air traffic controller. He served in
the U. S. Army at Fort Sill, Okla., during World War II. In 1942,
he married Norma Lorene Fountain and moved to St. Joseph, and
later to Ozawkie, Kan., Wilmington, N.C., then Kimberling City,
in 1996. He was a member of Kimberling City Amateur Radio Club,
Patee House Museum in St. Joseph, the Model A Club and St.
Joseph's Amateur Radio Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Henry, Ralph
and Vatchel; and sister, Freda Clevenger.

Survivors include his wife, Norma; daughters, Carlene Swartz and
Annette Oxby; two grandchildren; and sisters, Ermel Buntin and
Nona Atkinson.
