NOTES.

1. NOAA 9 was permanently deactivated some years ago and is tumbling
freely. Unfortunately it has a sporadic carrier on 137.500 (varies
quickly according to orientation) and can cause interference to NOAA 12
and NOAA 15.

2. Tiros-N and NOAA 6 are putting a carrier out on 137.500 and will
interfere with NOAA 12 and 15 when their footprints overlap.

3. NOAA 16's APT transmission system failed a few months after launch.

NOTES.

1. On 14th April 2004 NOAA 14's AVHRR scan motor stalled. It was assumed
that it would be unlikely to work again.
However on the 16th July 2005 it unexpectedly sprung to life with
nominal currents and more importantly nominal synch delta values. Good
imagery was once again being reported.
UPDATE: Scan motor problems have returned and reports are again mixed.
Some periods of good data, some poor.

2. Problems have developed with STX-3 (1707 MHZ). Power has dropped from
approx. 8W to about 2.4W resulting on a greatly reduced signal strength.

3. On Friday 19th September 2003 NOAA 16 developed AVHRR synch. problems
similar to those on NOAA 14 (and previously NOAA 15).
Since then reports have been mixed. Some periods of good data, some
poor.

4. Although all channels are being transmitted on Feng Yun 1C, there is no
image data, so the channels are effectively empty.

5. The following HRPT transmitter changes were effective from
30th August 2005. The re-assignments were :-

NOAA 16 changed from STX1 (1698 MHz) to STX2 (1702.5 MHz).
NOAA 18 changed from STX3 (1707 MHz) to STX1 (1698 MHz).

8. MSG-1 became operational on 29th January 2004, and is now known as
Meteosat 8.

9. This satellite is also known as HIMAWARI 6.

THIS WEEK'S POSSIBLE EVENTS.
General Eumetcast note.
Due to maintenance on 02/11/05 there will be a increased risk of
interruption to all EUMETCast and Internet services between
08:00 and 11:00 UTC and again between 13:00 and 15:00 UTC.

Meteosat 5.
Due to ground segment maintenance on 01/11/05 between 09:00 and 13:00 UTC,
there is a high risk of service interruption. Due to Meteosat-5 moon
eclipse
on 01/11/05, slots 42 and 43 will not be scanned.

Meteosat 6.
There will be an interruption to the rapid scanning service between
31/10/05
at 18:00 UTC and 02/11/05 at 18:00 UTC, for ranging, manoeuvre and full
earth imaging.

Meteosat 7.
Due to ground segment maintenance on 01/11/05 between 09:00 and 13:00 UTC,
there is a high risk of service interruption. Due to Meteosat-7 moon
eclipse
on 02/11/05, slots 1 and 2 will not be scanned.

EARS.
Maintenance will take place 31/10/05 between 09:00 and 10:30 UTC. There
is a increased risk of interruption to the service.

Maintenance will take place 01/11/05. There will be an interruption to
the service between 09:30 - 11:30 UTC.
Transfer of data received at HRPT stations to users will be delayed.
