SILVER SPRING, MD. JANUARY 12, 2003
To All RADIO AMATEURS
BID: $ANS-012.07
** ANS welcomes the opportunity to publish your good news of success in
working a new satellite, new DX, new mode, etc. We also print reports
about what space related activities your local satellite groups and ham
clubs are doing. Send your operating reports to JoAnne (wb9jej@amsat.org=
)
and they will be printed here.
** Eddie Valdez DU1EV sent a report about AMSAT activity in the
Philippines. Eddie told ANS, "The Philippine Amateur Radio Association
(the national amateur radio organization) celebrated its 70th founding
anniversary and had a hamvention in November 2002. To date, it was the
most widely attended hamvention in this country."
Eddie, the AMSAT country representative for the Philippines, gave a talk
about the Amateur Radio satellites at the Hamvention. He utilized the
PowerPoint presentation prepared by the AMSAT Field-Ops team. This is
leading to more opportunities to tell other amateurs about the satellite
program. Eddie reported the good news, "local ham clubs have invited me
to give similar presentations at their meetings. We hope that amateur
satellite activity will increase in the Philippines."
[ANS thanks DU1EV for this week's operating news.]
