Kolibri-2000 satellite (RS-21) will Re-enter May 3 - 4 2002

Kolibri-2000 satellite (RS-21) will Re-enter May 3 - 4 2002

I received this memo today from the Space Research Institute in Russia.

Dear colleagues.

According to ballistic accounts of the experts RSK "Energy"
Russian-Australian micro-satellite "Kolibri-2000" will enter dense
layers of an atmosphere and will stop the existence of May 3-4, 2002.
Taking into account importance of reception scientific data on low
orbits, all service systems and scientific equipment for this period
will function and to transfer the data to the Earth. Stanislav I. Klimov

****
The Kolibri-2000 satellite (RS-21) was Launched on March 19, 2002 at
22:00 UTC. The Amateur Radio research satellite has been in a Free-Fall
orbit for the 6 weeks. During the Kolibri's free-fall, it has been
sending back telemetry and digital voice recordings. Part of the RS-21
mission will include analyzing particles, with a flux-gate
magnetometer.

Sometime during the week of May 3 - 4, the Kolibri-2000 satellite
(RS-21) will re-enter the Earth atmosphere. The low cost RS-21
satellite was designed for this type of short duration mission. Since
the RS-21 has solar panels to recharge it batteries, it should be able
to continue to transmit telemetry data until it re-enters.

Collecting Data:
I am interested in receiving full sets of CW data from monitoring
stations for the remainder of this week. All data will be sent back to
IKI for review.
If you wish to send me cw data please including the following in this
format.
Your Name and Call sign
Country
Date and time of data (UTC format only)
RS-21 telemetry data

Doppler:
Primary Downlink 435.335 MHz CW/FSK (Doppler 435.325 - 435.345)
Backup Downlink 145.825 MHz CW/FSK (Doppler 145.820 - 145.830)
Kolibri will be transiting usually on the Primary channel of 435.335
mc. The Backup channel has been used occasionally. When you are
listening for Kolibri, make sure you check both channels and you should
adjust for Doppler shift. You may also want to have you tape recorder
handy to record the voice recording from Kolibri.

I was able to locate an active web page for this project, the ISS
"Kolibri-2000" - Russian-Australian School Scientific-Research
Microsatellite. This web page is a little out of date, if anyone knows
of a more current web page, please forward the information to MAREX.
