AUSTRALIA/CHINA China Radio Int?l on the air in Canberra.
<http://www.cctv.com/program/cultureexpress/20090510/101071.shtml>
China Radio International is now on the air in the Australian capital of
Canberra. Now let's take a look CRI's ribbon cutting ceremony down under.
The launch ceremony was held on Friday evening at the Australian National
Museum. It was attended by senior officials from CRI, China's ambassador
to Australia, and members of Canberra City Council.
Carried on the frequency of FM 88 MHz, CRI Canberra will provide twelve
hours of English-language content each day. Its signals will reach some
300 thousand people in the city and surrounding areas. In addition to news
and current affairs, it also offers entertainment such as music and
celebrity interviews. A portion of the programing will be dedicated to
China's social and economic development and cultural heritage.
Wang Gengnian, CRI President said "Just as I said in the speech, the
operation will build a bridge of communication between Chinese and
Australian peoples. It will serve the general public around the city as
well as Chinese Australians. It will send a message of friendship,
greetings from China. Through its introduction of China, it will help
promote the exchanges between the two countries in both the economic and
cultural fields."
China Radio International now boasts nearly 30 bureaus across the globe
and broadcasts in 38 foreign languages. Through its partnerships with
major websites and print media across China, CRI aims to build a world-
class news service.

BRAZIL Here is a ground-level photo of the R. Bandeirantes site in Sao
Paulo, which I took in early 2006.
These 4 towers are shared by R. Bandeirantes (840) and R. Sao Paulo (960).
Each of the two stations uses a pair of the towers at opposite sides of
the approximate parallelogram, a fairly unusual arrangement.
And, at the time of my visit to the site, R. Bandeirantes was operating on
3 HF frequencies, but I didn t take any photos of the HF antennas, which
are off to the right in this view.

Radio Guaruja Paulista 5045 kHz location.
"This station has been inactive again, but returned now to the air which
is great news for lovers of the world of the Tropical Wave, because it is
an excellent provider of QSLs. I know personally the owner (Mr. Orivaldo

off the air. They had plans to return to the Tropical Waves ... and that
actually occurred. I talked with Orivaldo Rampazzo, last night, May 08, by

CHINA/RUSSIA Confirmation Blank. Yes the Chinese seems to have departed
and left 7100 to 7200 to hams. But there is a holdout on 7105 at 1200.
Most of the time there is a carrier and the modulation is normally well
down but last night I was hearing some programming in Chinese, which I
initially thought was in \\ with 6125 kHz.
It isn't and was unable to find a \\ feed. Even the CNR jammer on 7185 has
gone but the original station is there plus a SAH.
Also I noted that the sender on 7200 with R. Rossi seems to be pulsating
again at a fast rate and sounds similar to some of the pulse systems in
the utility bands.
(Robin Harwood-Tas-AUS VK7RH, dxld May 10)
7105 PBS Nei Menqqu, 1412, May 13. Fair to good reception, in Chinese; \\
9520 kHz.
Wondered where this was and it is coming here as early as 1030 UT.
Modulation seems to vary. Will try 9520 tonight and see if it's same.
(Ron Howard-CA-USA, dxld May 14)
Yup also noted here and \\ 5940 kHz. I guess they are reading DXLD:) The
echo jammer on 7185 with CNR1 or 2 ( it varies from day to day) I suspect
is western China as it does not peak until after 1230, although they may
vary the sites daily to take account of propagation.

7130 CNR-1, X'ian, 1622-1639, 10 May, cf. \\ 7185, and found 9845 was
parallel too; 34332. Apparently, this is yet another jammer on TWN
starting at 1600.
7185 CNR-1, site?, 1620-1641, 10 May, Mandarin, talks, soft songs; 25321.
Seemingly, this regular prgr is also acting as a jammer on TWN.

as it seems, is used only by jammers.

REPORTS VARY ON DEATH OF SENIOR MILITARY OFFICIAL.
Vivian Wu, South China Morning Post
A senior military official in charge of the mainland's satellite and
strategic missile radio network has died in his office amid conflicting
accounts of the circumstances.
Zhang Shengli, 52, chief of the National Radio Administration Bureau, died
in his office on Tuesday afternoon after an "accident", mainland media
reported. But a Hong Kong-based human rights group said he had committed
suicide.
The website of financial magazine Caijing published a story yesterday
saying Zhang had died while "falling down steps after having lunch at a
staff canteen".
Quoting an unnamed official from the bureau's supervisor, the Ministry of
Industry and Information Technology, the report said Zhang might have been
mentally exhausted because of a long illness. The official also said Zhang
had not exhibited any unusual behaviour and that his death was accidental.
"Judicial authorities are investigating the cause of his death, and the
conclusions will be released and announced quickly," the report quoted the
official as saying.
But according to the Hong Kong-based Information Centre for Human Rights
and Democracy, Zhang killed himself in his office with an overdose of
sleeping pills. Quoting unnamed sources, the centre said that "Zhang was
found dead and pills were found near his body".
"Because of his involvement in China's military radio administration and
huge access to confidential information, his death generated major anxiety
among the authorities and his body was stored in a secret place only known
by several bureau deputy chiefs," the centre said.
Internet discussion of the death had been shut down by yesterday.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology
confirmed Zhang's death, but refused to disclose the cause.
"We are waiting for the final conclusion on [investigation into] the cause
of death from the authorities and the hospital, but no information is
available now," a Mr Wang said, refusing to give his full name.
Zhang was appointed bureau chief in 2004 when it came under the Ministry
of Information Technology and retained the position after the bureau
became part of the new Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in
March last year.
Zhang was known in the media as the man in charge of radio frequency
allocations, satellite tracking and monitoring, radio station supervision,
and co-ordination between civilian and military radio. He was quoted
several times on the mainland on radio communications security in Beijing,
particularly surrounding Olympic venues during last year's Games.
The bureau's website says his last official appearance was a meeting with
British representatives about radio administration during the Games.

Re Rebelde: Sorry, wrong frequency, yes 5025 is the non-direxional service
for all Cuba.
The Chinese erected also a 'sister' 49 mb antenna for HIGH SUNSPOT YEAR
seasons to cover also the Cuban neighbours in Central America? "I guess
6000 kHz was the non-dir channel from La Habana some 30 years ago?" -
Maybe deceptive in my brain ... or confusion with R Reloj Costa Rica 6006.
I measured the 'legs' of the two non-dir antennas at Quivican in Google
Earth and narrowed the object to 60 and 49 mb potential.
(wb, dxld May 12)
Seems to me Rebelde once used 6120 and/or 6140 kHz, now occupied by RHC.
Don't know about the antennas for that.

Gratulation.

MW 594.
Fuehrungsriege fuer Sprachverwirrung sorgt.
drei Prozent ausmacht. Fuer diese drei Prozent stellen die
Verantwortlichen das Informationsprogramm des hessischen Fernsehens zu
fast hundert Prozent in Frage.
All

Dear VOI,
Here in Oklahoma, central USA, I have been enjoying your English

Tuesday remotes from Banjarmasin.
But that will no longer be possible since you have just moved to 11785

which is HEAVILY JAMMED by China. I was only able to detect that your
English transmission was on 11785 today May 4, but it was unlistenable.
Furthermore, there is always additional interference on 11785 during this
hour on Saturdays and Sundays, as a USA station WHRI broadcasts Hmong Lao

Meanwhile, 9525 is empty! Please go back there immediately, at least
during this English broadcast. Thanks, Glenn Hauser, WORLD OF RADIO

KUWAIT DRM: Hi All, MOI Kuwait is peaking S9 here with no audio decode.
The display header says 11.64 kbps EEP aac Mono. The signal looks and
sounds badly distorted, but it is generally square in spectrum shape. My
first guess was it was SSB interference. But on further reflection its
probably highly dispersive fading of a Rayleigh characteristic. Noise
floor here is S3. This is on the indoor 1.25 meter diameter loop. S/N
varies from 3 to 8 dB. Delay spread is not terrible large at 1.44 ms.
Doppler is 2.7 hz. If it was not for that distortion, it would be an easy

Monaco Radio is now relaying the short news program of Radio Monaco 95.4
on its HF frequencies USB 4363, 8728, 13146 and 17260 kHz at 0700 and 1100
UTC. Noted them today at 1100 on 8728 with this news broadcast in French.

3AC location puzzle solved !
I don't know the present situation of 3AC maritime stn.
The Monaco sailing harbours are fully packed with hotels and appartement
houses now. Erected a big football and athletics stadium and some new
helioport too.
3AC is situated close to the western boundary of Monaco-France
[1.1 km eastwards],
RECEIVING post ON MONACO SOIL -
at "Chemin du Fort Antoine" street close eastwards of Monte Carlo musee
Oceanographique.
BUT SHORTWAVE TXS at FONTBONNE (near TWR's one) IN FRANCE !!!!

History of 2002/2007/2008:
3AC Monaco Radio. From TopNews #583 in July 2002.
Station located close to parlament building on a road cut into the
cliffside. Small building with a log periodic antenna and folded dipoles
mounted on a tower at the railing of the road (Bouldevard de Suisse in the
town of Monaco) opposite the building. Unlike other coastal stns both txs
and receivers are located in the building.
Listen for weather forcasts in En and Fr at 0930 UT on 8806, 13152, 17323,
and 22768 kHz.
(Karl-Erik Stridh-SWE, WWDXC TopNews July 19, 2002)
MONACO - 18 Jan at 1402 UT while scanning the bands, noted presumed
National Anthem on 8728 USB. This was followed by female announcer "This
is Monaco Radio.." She gave the sched of weather forecasts. At the end
"... brought to you by the Principality of Monaco and Naya".
Gave website <http://www.naya.mc> then Anthem and off.
The HF sched was a mixture of French time and GMT. I guess it was like
this:
Western Med 0930, 1403, 1930 French time (should then be 0830, 1303, 1830
UT)
Eastern Med 1030 UT
Atlantic 0930 UT
All on channels 403, 804, 1224 and 1607 which means frequencies 4363,
8728, 13146 and 17260.
As earlier reported by others, Monaco Radio didn't sign-off at the end of
2007 but is still audible.

Yes, some operation is surely near the museum, but I'm not totally sure if
all the HF transmitters are located there. Usually coastal stations prefer
to have HF transmitters situated somewhere else and only remote-controlled
from the operating centre. Some pictures and text of 3AC here:

During a recent visit to the Mongolian Radio Transmitting Centre at
Khonkhor, 30 km east of Ulan Bator, the director, Mr. Gantumur
Tumurbataar, told me that the domestic SW tx upgrading project, funded by
the Govt of Japan, has been completed. New antennas and NEC txs were
installed at Ulan Bator-Khonkhor 7260 (50 kW), Altay [Govi-Altay
province], 4830 (10 kW) and Murun (or Moron) [Hoevsgoel province], on 4895
(10 kW). Sainshand [Dornogovi province] (4865) will be switched off for
good in September [2004] after which the three mentioned SW stations will
be the only ones to cover the country.
Incidentally, 7260's modulation is quite superior to the 4 MHz outlets for
which different audio lines are apparently used. Mr. Tumurbataar would
appreciate any reports from abroad on 7260 and would also welcome
suggestions from experienced DXers to find better freqs for the FS
programmes in English and Russian beamed to Europe. His e-mail address is:

The history and development years of the broadcasting in Mongolia begins
with the date of the first Radio program on 01 Sep 1934. The MRTV
Technical Center was established at Khonkhor, Ulaanbaatar City in 1960,
- with SW stations of 5, 25 and 50 kW and a LW station of 150 kW, followed
by an expansion in 1978 with 100 and 250 kW SW stations,
- in 1984 a 500 kW MW and LW station which enabled the programme no. 1 of
MRTV to be broadcast in the central area of the country,
- and the Voice of Mongolia to be broadcast internationally in English,
Japanese, Chinese, Russian and Mongolian. In 1978-1979 local radio
stations of large capacity were built through USSR technical and
economical grant aid, providing the current broadcasting network which
covers approximately 90 percent of the total territory of the country at
present.
The central Radio Broadcast Station at Khonkhor (164 kHz 500 kW and 7260
kHz 50 kW, x4850 kHz), and Radio Broadcast Stations each located in the
following provinces: Bayan-Oelgiy (Oelgiy 209 kHz 30 kW), Govi-Altay
(Altay 227 kHz 75 kW and 4830 kHz 10 kW), Hoevsgoel (Murun 882 kHz 75 kW
and 4895 kHz 10 kW), Oemnoegovi (Dalan Dzadagad [Dalandzadgad] 209 kHz
75 kW), Dornod (Choybalsan Choibalsan 209 kHz 75 kW) and Dornogovi (Sayn
Shanda Sain-Shand Saynshand, x1233 and 4865 kHz).
The three new SW NEC transmitting systems were designed and manufactured
in accordance of the requirements of the contract between MRTV and the
Contractor (Sumitomo Corporation of Japan). The manufacturing of the
transmitting systems was completed in March 2003. The transportation and
construction at site took place during the period of April to August 2003.
Acceptance test and test txion as well as staff training for operation and
maintenance skills followed at each station on a step-by-step basis.

Damals sendete man mehrere
Am kommenden Montag (18.05.2009) will man mehrere Stunden in DRM via
Kvitsoy, Norwegen, mit 35 kW senden. Der Sendeplan lautet wie folgt:
0700-0800 UTC 9610 kHz
1200-1300 UTC 12075 kHz
1500-1600 UTC 9920 kHz
Dies weiss das Forum auf <www.drmrx.org/forum> zu berichten. Fraglich ist
natuerlich, ob diese Sendung tatsaechlich stattfindet. Wenn ja, waer's
eine nette Geburtstagsueberraschung fuer mich. :) Uebrigens, wer sich fuer

PAKISTAN Re Radio Pakistan Shortwave A09. [c.f. BC-DX TopNews #911]
May 05, 2009. 1700-1800 UT, 5860 kHz. Radio Pakistan Persian broadcast was
monitored today. The signal was clear but transmitter buzz was being heard
in the background. The signal was stable and no breakdowns were noted. The
broadcast mainly was music based with a short news bulletin and news
commentary.
May 06, 2009. 1235-1330 UT. 4790 kHz. Azad Kashmir Radio, Trarkhel was
monitored. The transmitter was Rawalpindi 10 kW. The signal was average.
The broadcast mainly consisted of Kashmiri songs. At 1330 it was announced
that the transmission will be back in 15 minutes which is via a 100 kW
transmitter but I did not find any on 1345 UT. Scanned all possible
frequencies used in the past but found no signal. The 100 kW transmitter
may be the buzzy one which is used for Voice of Jammu Kashmir Freedom
Movement.
(Aslam Javaid-PAK, dxld May 6)
May 11, 2009. Radio Pakistan Bangla service was monitored in Lahore today
from 1200 to 1245 UT at 7475 and 9345 kHz. The signal was poor on both
frequencies. Transmitter buzz was very high on 9345 making it very
difficult to hear the audio which was heard only a couple of times. The
transmitter was probably API-9 but its performance is quite unpredictable.
The transmission on 7475 was less noisy. Propagation was poor on both
frequencies.
Owing to some problem in the Radio Pakistan external service studios'
technical section, whenever background music is played during
announcements it suppresses the audio and one is unable to know what is
being announced. Most of the background music and signature tunes selected
for various segments are very unpleasant and annoying. But the most
horrible piece of music is Radio Pakistan's interval signal which can be
used to frighten children. There is need to record it on latest equipment
and making it soft and subtle as was done recently for the national
anthem.

Great finding ! Was one of my regular puzzle check locations, like the
Macedonian 810 kHz MW site on balcans, still on my finding agenda since
Dec 2006.
Yes, Puttalam was on SW too, with a 12.5 kW MARCONI unit on 6035 kHz,
1330-1500 UT, in five Indian languages, appeared in WRTH 1993 til WRTH
1995.
In 1996/1997 only appearance in SW frequ table at end pages of the WRTH.
HISTORY
More languages on TWR mediumwave channel Puttalam 882 kHz, 400 kW (ex SR
Heusweiler unit). Protestant radio ministry TWR - Trans World Radio - got
official permission of Sri Lankan government for broadcasts in English and
Tamil languages, main languages of this SoAs island country.
(RNMN, Dr. Hansjoerg Biener-D, June 1995)
A verfication letter from TWR Puttalam confirms that the low power outlet
on 6035 kHz left the air on April 2nd, 1995 due to the increased use of
high power outlets originating from the CIS.
(Ed Kusalik Numero Uno, DX Ontario, Naswa, Sept 1995)
Victor Goonetilleke advises, however, that the 12.5 kW transmitter on 6035
kHz remains in use by the SLBC for an unofficial service in Tamil at 1315+
which is sponsored by the EPDP group, an association of all Tamil militant
groups supporting the government against the LTTE extremists. The program
is on the 400 kW MW transmitter at Puttalam - 882 kHz, which is now
controlled by the SLBC, at 0900-1315 UTC. It then switches to 6035 at 1315
UTC because TWR has airtime on 882 MW at 1330-1900 UTC.
(Finn Krone-DEN DSWCI SWN, Sept 1995)
Started TWR relays via Russian Irkutsk relay \\ MW 882 kHz in Oct 1995.
On 882 kHz Colombo Internat Radio continues to be heard from 0930-1200
UTC. At 1200 UTC they switch to the Tamil National Sce of SLBC also
bringing in 6035 kHz in \\ formerly this frequ carried Tamil group EPDP
produced anti LTTE programming.
(M.Sunmugasundaram, Tamil Nadu, via GVG UADX, Oct 11, 1996)
This 12.5 kW Marconi tx was imported during the height of the Tamil rebel
radio activity with as many as 4 different grouyps and Govts own black
clandestines operating, to jam these broadcast. Finally the tx went bust
and was lying at Ekala. TWR was offered the tx on a repair and you can use
it basis. Even the wiring inside was eaten by rats. However the missionat
zeal got irt going in the Puttalam tx base. TWR didnt want to invest in a
costly antenna system, so they put up a dipole with a reflector just about
30 feet off the ground. The feeder lines were open wire feeders and the
insulators are PVC 2" rubing pieces!
First tests were encouraging and freqs of 5030 and 6035 kHz were used.
After a while TWR used it both 0030 and 1330 UTC blocks to beam to India
in Tamil and English since the Sri Lankan Govt didnt allow the 882 kHz tx
to operate in English/Sinhala/Tamil the langs of S-L before local midnight
and after 1700 LT. Two years ago the Govt dropped this clause and thus TWR
stopped using 6035 kHz and went over exclusively to MW 882 kHz.
The Sri Lankan Govt in the meantime was using the TX for a daytime bc of
the SLBC for Govt forces stationd in the North since there was more or
less a de facto Tamil state run by the rebels in the North and the Govt
controlled only a few large camps which were accessible only via air and
sea. This situation has changed now with the Govt taking control of the
northern Jaffna peninsula and the second base of the rebels as well. The
Tiger Radio Puligalin Kural lost its Jaffna base, then shifted to
Killinochchi which again was over run by the Govt forces early Oct. Now
the Tiger R. is limited to a few bcs on FM irregularly.
(Sarath Weerakoon, Victor Goonetilleke 4S7VK, UADX, Oct 11, 1996)
In 1997 anti Tamil Tigers broadcast:
SLBC 6035.00 kHz, 1300-1400 following s/off CRI in Vietnamese. Tamil
speaking, mentioned many different countries around Sri Lanka.
Subcontinental mx. At 1330 UTC TA, 5 short/1 long times pips, before
started with drums, flutes, like Indian mx, mentioned S-L again. Political
talks. 1349 "..Salem Aleikum ..". 1358 UTC flute IS, sound scale up+down.
1400 TA 5/1 pips, s/off. Definite no religious px, not from TWR. S=8-9 on
s-metre scale.
(Roland Schulze-PHL, Aug 22/23/24, 1997)
The Tamil stn on 6035 kHz is not the propaganda sce. Its a back up for
5020 kHz Tamil sce using the 12.5 kW Puttalam. Since the Jaffna area was
wrestled from the Tamil Tiger rebels the Puttalam stn is being used at
this time 1200-1400 UTC.
(Victor Goonetilleke-CLN 4S7VK, UADX, Sept 4, 1997)
Some years ago, TWR operated a 12.5 kw SW tx at the Puttalam site. It was
decided that the coverage it offered was not sufficient reason to keep it
operating because the MW signal gave most of the same area as well. The
old SW tx was probably scrapped.
TWR had a 100 kW SW tx scheduled to go to Sri Lanka for a while, but it
was decided not to do SW from Sri Lanka. The tx was sent to Swaziland
instead to replace (1999) one of the old 50 kW units that had been used
there for a long time.

In 1998 again on TWR schedule - til 2001, but only 0830-0845 UT 6035 kHz
in Malayalam.
882 TWR/3rd px of SLBC - Puttalam erected in 1978/1979 with help of
German TWR/ERF and European TWR branches. Moved the previous Thomson-CSF
400 kW mediumwave unit of 1422 kHz from Europawelle Saar at Heusweiler,
Germany to Sri Lanka. Was a very sensitive task in that era. A lot of
pressure from Indian diplomats an government to Sri Lanka.
Replaced that Thomson-Thomcast MW unit by solid state gear from NAUTEL in
????year. The stn has no generator that can keep the 400 kW tx on the air.
Suffered main power cuts in Oct 2001.

TAIWAN QSL - Clandestine Sound of Hope Radio Network verified with a
full data Earphones/Microphone" card personal letter in 72 days from
postal address P.O.Box 70456, Sunnyvale, CA 94086, USA. from v/s Demi Yan,
Listener Service Coordinator who apologized for the delay in replying.
The letter indicated that the "Sound of Hope Radio Network is a non-profit
station that produces comprehensive news and commentaries on or related to
China and we broadcast to China through shortwave. We are the largest non-
governmental shortwave broadcaster to China. Our mission is to provide
mainland Chinese people with free, independent and objective information,
which is most of the time unavailable due to the total monopoly of
information by Chinese government.
Due to the Communist government's monopoly o f the power and media, state-
sponsored human rights violations go undeterred and many, many people
suffered as a result. Outstanding examples are underground churches and
Falun Gong practitioners, Tibetans and many deprived people are being
persecuted in very brutal and covered-up way. Our radio station strives to
bring the exposure to such crimes in an effort to deter it and hope to the
people in much need."

UK/former SEYCHELLES FEBA.
I know I didn't DXed shortwave since the last weekend, but I would like to
thank Glenn Hauser for having helped me in identifying the FEBA religious
Arabic broadcaster on the 31 meter band ! I would like to know more about
FEBA ! What is the purpose of this station ? Is it a new SW broadcaster
?... Is it related in a way or another to TWR (Trans World Radio) ? Is
FEBA considered as shortwave DX catche or as a major international
broadcaster, therefore a pest ? I'm puzzled on the difference between
shortwave DX and SWLing...
(Bogdan Chiochiu-QC-CAN, dxld May 9)
FEBA is an old SW broadcaster on the air for many years. It started out in
the Seychelles, and then lost its license there, or it became too
expensive to operate, so now it buys time on a number of different
transmitter sites. Far East Broadcasting Association it originally meant
as an offshoot of FEBC in the Philippines/USA even tho it specializes in
Africa and parts of Asia closer than "Far East". It's just another gospel
huxter. No transmission from the 250 kW units in Rwanda can be considered
real DX, if that makes a difference to you. It's separate from Trans World
Radio, tho there is a certain degree of cooperation among them and others
in specializing in certain exotic languages. They all have a common goal:
changing people's religions from whatever to Protestant Christianity.
(Glenn Hauser-OK-USA, hcdx dxld May 10)
Has 'Protestant Christianity' background of U.K. circles. (wb)

>From this afternoon Xinjiang PBS is on its summer schedule. 7205 {ex 7195

co-channel CNR-1 jammer at 1750 UT. On shortwaves the CNR-1 allnight prgr,
as it seems, is used only by jammers.

IARU thanks broadcasters who moved from 7 MHz.
The International Amateur Radio Union has thanked short wave broadcasters
for achieving a high degree of migration away from the now-worldwide
amateur-exclusive band of 7100 to 7200kHz by the mandated date of 29
March.
IARU Secretary Dave Sumner, K1ZZ, has been quick to acknowledge the
compliance by most broadcasters to QSY out of that band, as required by a
decision of the World Radio Conference in 2003. He also noted that he is
certain that the few remaining broadcast transmitters operating on 7200
kHz and below will be addressed in the coming weeks. The departure of
broadcasting from this spectrum has resulted in an enormous improvement in
the usefulness of 40 metres for amateur radio communication.

MAY ODXA "Listening In" magazine.
An End & A Beginning
THIS issue of Listening In is the final issue that we will publish in a
magazine format.
As we mentioned several times over the past months, in June most of the
content of LI will be shifted to our website, <www.odxa.on.ca>
Here it will be freely available to all who wish to access it.
Columns will be posted as individual documents, in either Word or PDF
formats. You will simply read them on line or print them from the website.
You might also download them to your computer and read or print them at
your convenience.
Some columns will retain their past format, while others may undergo some
changes. This will largely be the choice of the editors.
For those who do not have a computer or simply wish to continue to pay for
a paper copy, we will print the columns once per month, package them in an
envelope and mail them. This will require charging a fee and for now, we
will keep the old membership fee in place for paper copies. Depending upon
the actual printing and mailing costs, this fee may increase.
This is new ground for us, so on the one hand we ask for your patience and
understanding as we work out any bugs and experiment with the online
presentation.
On the other hand, this presents an exciting new opportunity for us. We
will have the ability to publish more material online than we could in the
magazine, more people will be able to contribute and we can explore new
methods of presenting information.
Those of you for whom we have an e-mail address will receive an e-mail
when the June columns are online. Those of you getting the paper copy will
receive it in the mail as soon as we've made the transition and have the
columns on hand.
Keep an eye on <www.odxa.on.ca>
Good Listening!
