Now how did you work that out, Warren? You have a habit of jumping to
conclusions without any evidence. Let me elaborate:
1. The wiring is at the back of the stove, out of sight. You could not see
it unless you move the stove which is side by side oven and cooktop.
2. The stove needs two strong men to move it to see what is going on at
the back.I can't move it and the side by side oven prevents it being
turned on its base..
3. The electrical work on the back of the stove is quite complex. There is
an electronic lighter on all the burners with the electronics in the back
of the stove, a clock, a timer, and a thermometer, quite a lot of
electronic gear. It is not a simple matter of a power cord being damaged.
4. The power cord was intact it was the plastic covered wiring in the back
of the stove that was eaten away.
5. I did eliminate the rats. However they are bush rats and I have bush
almost to my back door on the edge of an extensive lake reserve. Wild
life is prolific. I can't eliminate the rats until they enter the premises
and then I do get into the elimination process.
6. The rat did its work on the wiring under cover of the back of the
stove. I had no idea this was going on until the system fused.
7. The cleaner deserves the award for being thorough at the job. The stove
needed cleaning and she was doing it.
8. To replace the wiring would mean an extensive and expensive job by an
electrician. replacing clock, timer and electric lighter. The only part
that would not want replacing would be the power cord. Why should I do
that? I cook some of my meals, using a microwave oven for the most part. I
use the cooktop for heating what I need to heat, and I use the griller at
times. There is no difficulty in using the gas lighter for all of those
jobs.
There's the complete picture. Got it? Probably the lurkers have all
deleted this by now or dropped off to sleep. I don't blame them!!
Cheers,
