About a week ago, I decided to dust off my 70cm rig and turn it on to the
local repeater which was very feeble last time I tried it.

The first thing I noticed was that it had now got a 'd' at the end of it's
call sign, meaning it had CTCSS; and it wasn't weak and noisy anymore.

Eventually, after listening to it's callsign a dozen times, I heard
voices, mostly M3s the 'foundation' licence and some novice licences with
G7 in there.

It was a bit like CB before I gave up in 1995. The use of 'break'which
some complain about and a few 10 codes.

Not the best procedure but, at least I was hearing more than the usual
three radio hams which is all I have heard for three years.

Anything which makes more people come on is worth it in my opinion.
Good luck to them.

All the best from - Ian, G0TEZ @ GB7FCR
