News from the North West
North West Tasmania Amateur Radio Club next Meeting
NWTARC Summer Bar B Que
On Saturday the 21st January the club held its second summer Bar B Que at Legion Park, on the banks of the Leven River at Ulverstone. We were pleased to see the Bar B Que facilities had recently been upgraded, with very modern electric Bar B Ques replacing the older units. Once we learned how to fire it up, the aroma of cooking sausages wafted through the air, while we chewed the fat and observed the local sailing club races. The weather was absolutely glorious, and the company must have been great as we finally left the facility at 430pm. As usual much of the discussion was on radios, club matters and what we were all up to. We even managed the art of taking a photo of those attending, setting a timer on the iPhone. We are blessed the local council provide these various facilities throughout the municipality

DATV Experimenter's Night
https://fb.me/e/2JoFedbKt
We started our DATV Night reminding everyone that their VHF & Field Day logs are due to be uploaded by midnight on 30 January 2023. Justin VK7TW then outlined the parameters of the WIA AX Day contest.
We then went into installing and configuring the N1MM contest and DX logger.
https://n1mmwp.hamdocs.com/
We showed how to install for Australian Contests using User Defined Contests files can be found on VK4SNâ€Ös website. https://www.vk4sn.com/Contests/N1MMVK
Justin showed the details of setting up a USB/Serial connected radio and showed the setup for the IC705 he had in the studio. Justin demonstrated that there is bidirectional control from both the N1MM logger or the radio.
Justin then demonstrated how you setup the N1MM logger to automatically start WSJTX or JTDX and then demonstrated how it works to start WSJTX and then automatically log into N1MM when making FT4/FT8 contacts. This involves two areas of configuration in both N1MM and WSJTX.
We then showed the Dave Trewen G7IYK Magnetic Loop Tuner Progress, he showed the board populated and run through the major components.
We finished with a reminder that next week is Q&A Conversation with Warren VK0WN about his time at Casey Station. We get back underway with our DATV Experimenter's Night in two weeks - 8th February 2023 with a social DATV Experimenterâ€Ös Night however will not be streaming or going out on RF on the night of the 8th.
