RTTY Gazette - March 2005 - The Future

Greetings all.

After digging out from probably the biggest snow storm of the year, I am
able finally to get things back on track here in the shack.

First I want to say I am sorry because I know I said this would be out on
the 1st of March but here it is a couple of days late.

I had planned a regular issue this time but after some thought over the
past few days I think this issue will determine the ultimate fate of this
publication.

Putting together this publication has been fun for the last few months. I
had hoped that I would be able to continue right where Jim had left off but
I have to admit that I am just not the same caliber of writer that he is.
What was fun for me to read when he was editor was his descriptions of his
travels and his musings about all kinds of subjects. Quite frankly, I do
not travel much and I have some issues that I simply would like to keep
private. This makes for a very boring publication in my opinion.

I had hoped that some of you, the readers, would contribute some things
from time to time and frankly, only 2 subscribers have ever sent anything
to me for publication.

As a result I have had to glean information from sources on the Internet
and what I have published you, the reader, could find the same information
just as easily as I have been able to do. In fact many of the things that
have been published have simply been re-hashes of stuff already available
on the RTTY list or some of the more popular DXpedition annopuncement pages
and contest listings. There was never any real original stuff.

So the question to you all is this. Should the RTTY Gazette continue
publication?

I know that another group that publishes a very find listing of RTTY DX
Spots is contemplating the same issue.

So let me know, and folks, I am not going to let just one or two people
make the decision for me. I want to hear from each and every subscriber.

Please send your thoughts to rttygazette@wi8w.org

There will be a further mailing announcing the decision in about 2 weeks
