Its been quite apparant, for sometime that the RSGB would have to put its
house in order, or in this case move! Its needed centralising in the
country for many years, again economics has won the day over prestige. In
my view it should have dumped the capital 25 years ago when it dumped
Doughty Street, but in those days too many old boys were still running the
show. We now live in the cost constrained UK, rates are through the roof
on business premises and things are going to get a lot tighter in the
years ahead, everyone and every business is tightening its belt, an
Amateur Radio Society is no different.

With the diminshing membership and coffers coming into the till, the new
home to the RSGB I guess is going to be a much smaller slimmed down
operation, and maybe some heads will roll? You only have to judge this by
the shack being given the order of the boot, along with the museum and
library, they are not going to fit into the building any longer!

Will this bring new membership, a better society, and value to the
existing member? Only time will tell, but it has to be one of the most
positive things its done for years.

I guess though it will still have some clowns running the show, but much
more pressure will be put onto the volunteers shoulders, again economics
prevail!

Prehaps I could be the Teaboy, well I always did like monkeying around.
