A new 10m repeater has been commissioned for South Africa. The repeater is
using old PYE Telecommunications equipment. The equipment was stripped down,
rebuild and converted for the 10 meter band. The information is as follows:
1. Receiver Site.
1.1 Location.
25 Grad 41 Minutes 43 Seconds South, 028 Grad 16 Minutes 11 Seconds East and
1419 meter above sea level.
1.2 Antenna.
The current antenna is a 5/8 vertical but trials will be conducted with a
vertical half wave dipole and 3/8 end fed antenna to find the most optimal
antenna. The antenna is 30 meter above ground level.
1.3 Receiver.
The receiver is a PYE R18FM receiver with helical front end on a frequency
of 29.590 MHz. The receiver is equipped with CTCSS and requires 88.5 Hz to
activate the link.
1.4 Link Transmitter.
The receiver connects to a UHF link transmitter. The transmitter is a PYE
T461 and runs 1 watt into a folded dipole yagi. The transmitter is equipped
with a sub-audio tone.
2. Transmitter Site.
2.1 Location.
25 Grad 45 Minutes 19 Seconds South, 028 Grad 16 Minutes 55 Seconds East and
1380 meter above sea level.
2.2 Antenna.
The current antenna is a 3/8 end fed vertical but trials will be conducted
with other antennas to find the most optimal antenna. The antenna is 30 meter
above ground level.
2.3 Transmitter.
The transmitter is a PYE T100FM valve transmitter running 100 watt on a
frequency of 29.690 MHz. The transmitter will send the CW tone ID "ZS6PTA"
every 15 minutes when the repeater is not in use.
2.4 Link Receiver.
The transmitter is connected to a PYE R460 UHF receiver. The receiver is
equipped with CTCSS restrict traffic on the link frequency. The receiver uses
a folded dipole yagi.

3.1 Repeater Owner.
The equipment and antennas of the complete system are the property of Johan
Lehmann, ZR6ANF. The licence is in the name of the Pretoria Amateur Radio
Club.
