Well it's contest weekend again, so time for a laugh.
Lets see what I can work with 5w and my FT817.
Antenna is a homebrew 1.5m whip, and 15m was the band of the day
so I stayed there.
Plenty of W1-4's,VE3,P4 and I lost count of the europeans.
I was happy with that, but later on whilst indoors I had the FT817 on 20m
listening to DL station. Not great dx but just for fun I retracted the
1.5m whip down to 30cm and tuned it up, best SWR of about 3.1 and the
rig was at my bedside !
I womndered if he'd hear me, and yes he did no problem!
I wonder what the EW.R.P. must have been.
Considering ATU losses - small h/brew L Match + 30cm antenna + indoor
"environmental losses" ;-)
A few milliwatts perhaps ?
I wonder how that works with the "miles per watt" brigade ?
