A total of 234 rigs were employed, a fair dozen OM therefore must have
powered up more than one QRP box.
Approx. 80 radios doubtlessly are of "commercial" origin, 33 of them being
an FT-817, an unprecedented triumphal march!
Which gives rise to considerations of further promoting the DIY ( Do it
YOURSELF) idea: We will most probably introduce homebrew classes.
It is after all one of the goals of both DL-QRP-AG and QRPCC to revert
the general tendency towards disaptitude which unfortunately also prevails
in amateur radio.
So please continue to use your homebrew treasures in OQRPC (one might
e.g. additionally participate under a club callsign) even when owning
QRP-heaven's "shooting star". No argument about the latter: It's exactly
the radio I'd take with me on a holiday flight, in order to satisfy my
ham radio desires in a light-weight and low volume manner.
Nevertheless, there are 50 definitely homemade units - some of them also self
designed - in the list. Half of these even are complete QRP transceivers,
i.e. not just simple "transmitter dwarfs" (bacon with which to trap QRP-mice,
which nonetheless can't be appreciated highly enough).
There remain about 100 kits ranging from a simple Ramsey QRP-40 to
Elecraft K2s. A positive result in times like these, when obtaining
parts is becoming increasingly difficult for (not only) newcomers not in
the possession of a well stuffed junk box.
Which brings us to the next home construction highlight:
The 3rd QRP-MINIMAL ART-SESSION (qrp-mas) on Ascension Day, 9th May 2002
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
(TX or TX/RX made from a maximimum of 50 or 100 parts, respectively)
Mni tks to Eddi, DK3UZ, for translation!!
