hi all,
thanks for reading. when ordering the atu unit for the k2, i planned to put it
into a weatherproofed box and install it at the feedpoint of the antenna.
after the lx9un fieldday last weekend, i am now able to confirm the
installation worked even with a 200 watt station working at the same site. the
antenna was an all-band dipole at 20 ft. height, fed with twisted bellwire
through a 1:4 balun. the hf cable was rg58 and the control cable a
4-wire,shielded computer cable. the shield is only connected at one point to
ground! (very important!). this connection point is in the transceiver. length
of the 2 cables were about 45 ft. (15 m).
these are the first experimentation results. if you have questions or
suggestions, please feel free to mail to lx2au@lx0pac.lux.eu.
