No I didn't.

If you want to engage in debates, at least try to pay more attention
to what's written. The issue on ABC's 7.30 prog wasn't debated from a
political angle - it highlighted the plight of the farmers due to the
prolonged drought. Those involved were chosen for their expertise -
not their political standpoint.

I gave a clip of the text and the link to the programme which you could
view for yourself if so minded. But of course if you did, it would
undermine completely your incorrect assertions.

The only political comment was from John Howard - three words:

"pray for rain"

At no time did anyone say "if only we had a Labor government - the rains
would come, the sun would shine, the crops would thrive". That would be
facile.

I gave the CVs of those involved in the ABC programme, including
Australian of the Year 2007, and I asked you to highlight which of them
were, as you had inferred:

"notorious left wing political commentators".

You have failed to do so.

I can help you with that.

The answer is none - not one.

Then please do, and can you please highlight which text in the ABC news
clip didn't amount to "fair comment"

>QUESTION: How many Australian journalists have abandoned
>their profession to become Labor (left wing) politicians?

I'm not sure what your point is - it's completely irrelevant. I assume
that since you've posed the question rhetorically, that you do know the
answer.

You also infer that there's something wrong with being "left wing". I
take it you realise that Blair is a Labour PM. He's whats known in the
UK as a "champagne socialist" - not a horny-handed son on the soil, but
a privately educated barrister (of sorts).

("New Labour" is what he calls himself).

I also assume that you also understand that as a national public service
broadcaster, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation is required to
be apolitical and even-handed.

A better question for you to pose would be how many journalists follow the
political leanings of their newspaper proprietor? We know the answer to
that as far as Oz is concerned, and we know which way they lean. I've
commented before on how far away from the objective of press freedom
Oz is.

I wrote:

All of their biographies were impeccable, and the programme was in my
view, very well made. It was anchored by Kerry O'Brien, one of the most
prominent and respected names in Australian journalism.

O'Brian won many accolades, including the top award in journalism,
the Gold Walkley, and his career has spanned more than forty years.

>If you can get that right you will realize what I am talking about,

I doubt it.

>but you might not get the answer from the Internet.

Yet again, I have to remind you that the internet is a portal. You still
seem to not understand this.I don't get any answers from the internet any
more than I do from a library doorway.

If I phoned say the Australian government and spoke directly to someone
who then sent me a copy of a statute through the post, would you say
"there you go again - using the telephone and postal services to get your
answers.

What matters isn't the medium but the message, the substance behind it
and its veracity. Whenever I quote anything about Oz, it's invariably
from Australians who actually understand the issues and give intelligent
insights. I invariably quote the source.

One more, you really ought not to rush to judgement and make ad hominem
attacks against fellow Australians who took part in the ABC programme,
all of whom are experts in their field.

I repeat - the only political comment in the programme was from John
Howard: "Pray for rain". I'm not sure that moved the debate on very far.

Hope that helps to put you back on track.

Best wishes
