There was only one puzzle in my book with the X formation of starting
numbers. I found it more difficult than the other "hard" puzzles; it
took around 50% more time to solve it...maybe 20 minutes.

Well yes there is Lionel, but the logic breaks down when there are more
than one solution. I've found three puzzles with multiple solutions so far.

Can't say that I'm surprised that you said that Lionel. I've worked out
my own methods and can now solve these puzzles quite easily. In fact one
of the so called "hard" puzzles in the book took only 5 minutes to solve.
