Hi All,

This is to let you know that the long-awaited update to the FT-817 Commander
and PSK31 Deluxe is now available to the public. v2.2, Build 600 beta can be
downloaded via http://www.hb9drv.ch or via the links at
http://www.halpin.tomaatnet.nl

Many refinements have been made to the FT-817 Commander; not the least to
the way in which the Memory and Band managers work. A "cloning" feature has
also been added to allow you to read and save all your FT-817's settings.

Some major changes are listed here (scroll down for PSK31 Deluxe
information):

*** FT-817 Commander

Changed startup window layout by adding an Autostart option. When starting
you can now select either Autostart which tries all possible COM ports /
speeds or just a specific COM port / speed combination.

Favourites Menu and Organiser has reworked, added a Load / Merge option to
load selected definitions from a file. With this option you can now copy
definitions from someone else's file without overwriting all of your own
definitions.

Added a Full Screen option (F10).

Band layouts were originally inverted - lower frequencies at the top,
changed to show higher frequencies at the top.

Windows showing repeater settings have text "May Not be Correct" etc.

Reworked the Quick Save toolbar, added a pane to the selection window.

Reworked custom bands manager window, added Defaults button (removed from
main menu).

When scanning the tuning dial position is optionally hidden (default = TRUE)
to avoid flicker.

Added a link to the country-specific band plans in the Bands selection and
Bands popup window.

The Display Size option in the View menu now changes the size without
requiring a restart.

Change clock font from MS Sans Serif to Courier.

The active band is now drawn with the slider colour, arrows not displayed.

Changed Memory selection pane to use a tree ctrl so that it is easier to
select entries.

Subtle change: when using the mouse wheel over a 100MHz or 10MHz digit the
frequency will change in 1MHz units, previously the frequency was changed
using the default step size.

As bands change the new band is scrolled into view in the analogue
(Eddystone) display.

Made the band / memory scan windows modal so that while the user is scanning
other buttons / options cannot be selected. this stops the user from
confusing the rig.

The Transverter display now supports three algorithms:

1: Transverter - FT-817
2: Transverter + FT-817
3: FT-817 - Transverter

*** PSK31 Deluxe

The changes made to PSK31 Deluxe are quite extensive, and one very useful
feature not found anywhere else has been added.

It is now possible to centre received signal anywhere in your filter's
passband: this means that you can re-tune your radio so that the received
signal can be put slap bang on the spot where your filter is most effective
(the "sweet spot"); or you can use a combination of this feature and IF
shift to combat QRM. Those who have a narrow CW filter will find this very
useful indeed. Use the CENTRE toolbar to set up the centre frequency of your
filter. This seems to be 1500Hz for the standard SSB filter and also for the
CW filter. You then click on the green [C] square on the horizontal
waterfall to bring the selected signal to that point. This feature can only
be used in conjunction with an FT-817! There is a known bug here: if you
select DIG NAR you must first click on IPO and/or ATT before you can switch
back to wide DIG mode. This is being worked on.

Another area where changes have been made is the way in which text streams
in the SuperBrowser window can be used to save you a lot of typing: just
double-click on a text stream to see what happens.

You'll also find the Tags and Macros easier to use: quite a few changes have
been made here.

Both the SuperBrowser and QSO channel windows have independently
configurable toolbar settings. Most toolbars are not required for yse with
the SuperBrowser, so use TOOLS > OPTIONS (F8) > SUPERBROWSER 2 and check or
uncheck SAVE OWN TOOLBAR LAYOUT to use this function.

An extra function has been added to the TOOLS menu: a grid square and
distance/heading caculator.

QSO window contents can now be saved in .RTF format

There are really too many detail changes to list here: just try the program
for yourself.

Please report all bugs to Simon using the HELP > Send E-mail to HB9DRV
button.

And it goes without saying: FT-817 Commander and PSK31 Deluxe are FREEWARE:
by amateurs for amateurs.
