Notes of interest:
FR5- REUNION ISLAND. Roland, FR5AB, has been active this past week on
10 meters PSK31 and SSTV. For PSK31, watch 28120 kHz after 1030z.
For SSTV, watch around 28677 kHz after 1100z. He is also active
on RTTY on 20 meters after 0230z. Joseph, FR5HA, has also been
active on PSK31, but on 20 meters (14071 kHz) after 1630z and
again after 0245z.
KG4- GUANTANAMO BAY. Two members of the Florida DXPedition Group,
Bill/W4WX (KG4DX) and Larry/W1LR (KG4LR) will be active from
GTMO January 11-19th. Look for them on all bands, including
6 meters, on CW, SSB, RTTY, and PSK-31. QSL to home callsigns
via the bureau or direct. Remember there is no QSL bureau at GTMO.
V3 - BELIZE. By the time you read this, Gerd/DJ4KW and Gisela/DK9GG
should be in Belize and active for the next four weeks. Gerd is
expected to sign V31YN on CW/RTTY/PSK31 and Gisela will be active
as V31GW.
VU - Deepak/VU2DPM, Sked/VU2SKD, Kitchu/VU2KFR, Horey/VU2HFR and
Joy/VU2JSH will be the Calcutta VHF Amateur Radio Society's
members who willoperate on HF bands from Sagar Island (AS-153)
on 10-16 January [425DXN 555].They will be using their personal
callsigns as no special call has beenassigned for this operation.
Look for them between 1-3.30 UTC and 12-19 UTCon SSB (+/- 14260,
21260 and 28460 MHz), CW (14040, 21040 and 28040 MHz) andpossibly
on PSK31 (14.070 MHz), with an emphasis on 20m SSB and CW.
Please remember that the CVARS operates upon request from the
district administration to assist them in maintaining an
emergency communication network and handling missing persons
traffic during the Ganga Sagar Melaannual festival. This means
that the HF schedule might change, particularly on 13 and 14
January, when the crowd on the island peaks to around half a
million. The Mediterraneo DX Club will sponsor the QSLcards;
the QSL manager for all of the five operators will be IZ8CCW
(Antonio Cannataro,P.O. Box 360, 87100 Cosenza - CS, Italy).
Any money surplus topostage costs received with incoming QSLs
will be given to CVARS, whose resources are extremely limited.

VK9M MELLISH REEF (Update). Adam, VK4CP (VK9ML Pilot/Webmaster),reports
that the VK9ML team is interested in comments regarding whether
they should run either PSK-31, RTTY, or neither during their
DXpedition to Mellish Reef in April 2002. RTTY and PSK-31 both
have pros and cons, and they are simply asking which mode you
would prefer them to operate on. If neither is desirable, then,
of course, they can spend more time concentrating on CW and SSB
operation. Let them know your thoughts in the Poll they are
