FWIW, I copied a couple of stations on 160 late last evening at 1905 KHz.
One (KA7W) was running 20 watts to a less than optimum antenna and was
perfect copy here in North Texas. Band was quiet and unoccupied - perfect
for PSK31!
Are we missing something here?

Yes, most of us are missing about 2 acres for an
antenna. My G5RV just won't tune on 160 so I'm
thinking that an inverted L might work nice. I have
the room for it and am trying to come up with a
design. I also need about 5 miles of wire for the
ground plane. But as soon as the leaves fall off the
trees I'm going to try one. I would really like to
work 160 this winter. Senn any good antenna designs?

Hello All, I'll be glad to try PSK on 160. I run a Uni-Hat CTSVR
short vertical (30') on that band with a IC775 and ALS600 amp. What
time (Z) would be good for you? The band has a descent opening

My house is on only 1/4 acre and yet I manage to work 160 with 125-feet of
wire strung haphazardly through my backyard trees. Five buried zig-zag
radials, each about 60 feet in length, provide the ground plane. It isn't an
optimum antenna for 160, but it works. I've received PSK31 signals on 160
from about 1500 miles away using this antenna. During the 1998 ARRL
160-Meter Contest (CW), I managed to work California and Europe with 100 W.

I am thinking of a GAP vertical. The Voyager (for 160/80/40/20M) or the
Titan (40/30/20/17/15/12/10M) and just tuning it for 160M.
Does anyone have any experience with these antennas?

My backyard on 50 by 90--I'm running a center-loaded 1/4 sloper (65 feet of
wire and a loading coil) from my 33 foot tower. I worked 49 states last
year (missing Maine for WAS) and 15 DXCC (EU and JA) countries running 600
watt CW.
I imagine that even a modest antenna will be fine on 160 meter PSK31.

Paul,
See my previous post on the center-load sloper--will work fine if you have a
tower. I have a Butternut vertical for 80 and 40-- works fine with a good
radial system. I've never tried the 160 meter add-on. I imagine it would
work, but not real well since it is greatly shortened.
How about an inverted L ran against a decent radial system?
