Subject: [psk31] Logger 6.07e Fonts

I am testing out Logger V6.07e. I have no use for the logging program as I am
happy with LOG-EQF by Tom Dandrea, N3EQF. The psk31 program with the
waterfall and spectrum display is excellent. Although I tested an older
version of Logger and deleted it, I decided to check the latest version.

I have a 17 inch monitor and find the two choices of fonts (small A and Large
A) that appear on the top right side of the screen are still too small. Am I
missing something to get a larger font, possibly in Arial Bold or is this
program limited to only those two? Would be nice to change the background and
text color also. Guess we cannot have everything. I am now using three
different psk programs and find it very difficult to stick with only one.
Amazing freeware.
See ya on psk,

Hi Hasan. Good review, except for one point. I have had Logger 6.07b
working on drive D for about 3-4 weeks now. I just moved it to drive C
on this machine, because i needed the second drive for another computer
I am building. I just copied the folder, and ran the install again.

Subject: [psk31] {psk} Logger on drives other than C

Hi again Hasan. After just downloading and installing Logger 6.07e, I
noticed something. What may be misleading some people into thinking
that Logger can only be installed on drive C, is that there is no
"Browse" button, or feature, as is common in the install portion of many
Windows programs today. You have to change what is in the line where it
says "C:\logger" to the drive, and folder (directory to those of us who
started out using DOS!) where you want Logger to be installed. I just
looked at the Read.me text file. It does say that Logger mist be
installed on drive C. However, I ran the program for several weeks on
drive D with no problems.

Just to check, I installed logger to drive D on my other computer. It
seems to work fine, but I have not tried connecting the rig to that
machine...yet. I also notice that the PSK module works on my other
computer in this version, whereas in Logger 6.07b, the psk module would
lock up. The machine in question is a 486DX2-100Mhz. Peter's PSK31
works fine, but I prefer Logger, because of the integration of PSK31,
Logging, and macro keys. I know some folks here do not like to see
macro's sent on the air (or at least long ones, or brag files), but for
the hunt and peck typist like myself, they are very handy for sending
info that would otherwise have to be typed over and over.

My thanks to Peter, Al, and Bob for their efforts in developing the
GREAT, FREE software to implement PSK31 with a sound card! Keep up the
good work guys. I would say that MixW32 is too early in its development
for me to use at this point. No doubt Nick will continue to develop the
program, but it will have to be very good to lure me away from Logger!
This is, of course my personal opinion. Other's mileage may vary!

Thank you. I've been asking about this for a few days. I'm also
running a 486/100 and the psk module hangs. Today, I pulled 6.07e and
noticed better what it was doing. It still hangs in 'e', but it doesn't
do it until the second display window begins to form. The small
psk31sbw-like window looks fine, but as soon as the one beside it opens
up, the thing begins halting and must be ctl-alt-del'd to close Logger.

What is the URL where Logger can be downloaded? I've looked back in the
list. Must have been in one message I've deleted.

Hey, can't keep everything...

My initial install was on D: and it did not work properly.

I deleted the program and all references to it and reinstalled on Drive C:
and it now works fine.

YMMV, but the readme file is VERY explicit about installing it on Drive C:

If we ignore the warning and install elsewhere, keep in mind, the software
may "appear" to work.....but when a function gets called that we are not
typically used to calling, it could stop working.

My bet is it has to do with some hard coded paths in the code.

Nevertheless, mine does seem to work fine on Drive C: now. I do have some
questions, but have taken them to the logger list.

If you continue to hit the larger A in the corner, it will keep getting
bigger and bigger...it is not just a one time thing.

I also use a 17" monitor and find that the largest font that it goes to is
just about right.

Hi Marty es Group:

I was using Lux-Log until recently. (That's another story!) With some help from
Jim Kehler, KH2D, to convert my LL text delimited file to an .ADI file, I was
able to import the ADIF file into LOGGER. You might want to consider using
LOGGER for logging PSK QSOs only or importing your other logging data if it is
available in ADIF format. The ADIF import went very smoothly for me.
With LOGGER, you are able to BackUp a partial Logbook in ADIF, or the entire
Logbook, for exchange with UR QSL Manager. <[;-)

I haven't tried this release of Logger on my DX66 machine yet, but it
sounds to me like the CPU-intensive effort required to compute and
display the spectral estimation window is beyond the capabilities of
these systems.

For better or worse, I am the guy who sic'ed Bob onto the spectral
display for tuning in Logger, and it would appear that adding that
feature - which most seem to like very much, myself included - stretched
the required CPU horsepower beyond what the lesser machines can provide.
