Hello all PSK'ers,
Can you help! I received the following e-mail off Peter and since I
cannot go on VHF or UHF I do not know the answer to his question. Can the
reflector help? Please include calling frequencies if applicable. 73

The Greater Norwalk Amatuer Radio Club will be running PSK31 on all bands
except 160 including VHF. How about your club? How much activity canbe
expected in this mode on FD99?

Who knows? Look for W1CG, 2A RI. Just to cover all bets, we will be using
RTTY too, and will shift to other digital modes if we run out of stations
on those
two.
How about propagation? 20 has been good, but I don't expect much on 10 and
maybe a little bit on 15. You can never tell, as field day brings them out
of the
woodwork.
Has anyone agreed what frequencies PSK31 will be using on 40? There was
some earlier discussion on it, but as far as I know, nothing was resolved.
Does anyone know if ARRL will be using PSK31 on their broadcast? How about
it Steve?

If you are having trouble with Buckmaster lookup please make sure there is a
backslash as the last character in the setup string:
*BUCK DRIVE=F:\HAM0\
(where F is your CDROM letter). The string in the manual is incorrect.
I will fix this so it doesn't matter soon. (Yes, I'm back for a week).

All of the PSK31 contacts I have made have been on USB in that portion of
which ever band I was on on VHF/UHF. They have been scheds so the frequency
was agreed upon ahead of time. I have notticed no real differance in the
quality of the contacts between HF and VHF.

To all who might have the answer:
I like others have just gotten into this mode and trying hard to make
it work. I can get a good signal locked in but it won't print out
nothing but YYYYYYYYY. My setup has two audio cables about 13 feet long
with attenuators built in one to the mike input in front and other to
audio out on the back of my Yasue 747. Lenght needed to reach my
computer. Using the mike input on my Packard Bell and one speaker output
of same. Have tried cables with and without attenuators. Have muted all
controls suggested and varied vol controls up and down and have not had
any success. Would appreciate info that might help. Thankyou.

Subject: [psk31] Questions
Hello PSK31 List -
Has anyone used PSK31 on FM VHF/UHF? One of our
local hams said he had used it across town on 2-watts FM
and with a signal strength that was unintelligible for voice,
he was getting solid error-free copy.
If this is the case, we may be considering replacing our
proposed packet network for the hospitals with PSK31 since
it is a much easier setup and far less costly to install.
Secondly, is anyone using PSK31 on the Icom 725? I am
not doing very well getting it to run properly here. Any
advise is appreciated.
Thanks!

I haven't seen anyone ask or comment on such, but has anyone used
PSK31 on VHF/UHF FM mode? Is PSI31 possible on that mode?

Subject: [psk31] Sound Card Common?
I'm using a DR Sound soundcard. It works fine with my Ten-Tec
Omni VI.
My interface between the soundcard output and the radio's audio
input is an isolation transformer and pot.
The other day, I was moving cables around and happened to unplug
the audio to the soundcard. For some reason I was either
transmitting or went to transmit on PSK31 at the time. I noticed
that with the radio-to-soundcard audio unplugged, the
soundcard-to-radio audio was inoperative. I then connected an
alligator clipped jumper from the shield of the
radio-to-soundcard plug (at the radio end) and bingo! there was
PSK31 audio being transmitted. Disconnect the jumper and no
transmit audio... I haven't taken a close look at the soundcard
board, but could the audio out ground from the soundcard be
floating and different than the mic-in ground on the soundcard?
Any suggestions?
