Subject: NEW MULTIPSK 3.8 RELEASE

Inviato da: I6KZR@ON4HU.MOU.HT.BEL.EU

Hallo dear friends,
Patrick F6CTE has released a new version 3.8 of MULTIPSK. very
interessant is in this release the possibility to code/decode the
OLIVIA Default mode.
Tese are the main specification:

New release (3.8) of MULTIPSK

RX/TX: PSK10/BPSK31/QPSK31/PSKFEC31/PSK63/PSKAM10-31-50/PSK63F PSK220F +
DIGISSTV "Run"/CW/CCW/THROB/THROBX/MFSK8/MFSK16 (+SSTV)/OLIVIA
DF/MT63/RTTY 45/ASCII/AMTOR FEC/ PACKET 300-1200+APRS+DIGISSTV "Run" /FELD
HELL/PSK HELL/FM HELL/HELL 80/HF-FAX/SSTV/RX only: AMTOR ARQ/ NAVTEX/RTTY 50
+SYNOP+SHIP/RTTY 75-100/PACTOR1 DSP: FILTERS+CW binaural reception
PANORAMIC (RX 23 channels simultaneously): BPSK31/PSK63/PSKFEC31, with
automatic reception
Programmation of Multipsk reception + CLOCK 1.5.2 (FRANCE-INTER,DCF77, HBG,
RUGBY, WWVB, WWV, WWVH, GPS)

The main modifications of MULTIPSK (3.8) are the following:

1) possibility to code/decode the Hellschreiber mode FM HELL (see specifications further
on),

2) RX/TX of GPS positions and altitudes (NMEA 183) in APRS

3) possibility to code/decode the OLIVIA Default mode (see specifications further on, the
recommended frequencies being 7038.5 and 14107.5 KHz),

4) Help in German by Oskar (DL8MBF)... www.8ung.at/oskar.pickert

5) PDF file of the help by Terry: www.hamsoft.co.uk

6) AFC (Automatic Frequency Control) in RTTY.

7) A DLL (freeware) F6CTE_DLL_RX_SOUND_CARD_V_1 and two Delphi/C++ test
programs are proposed to Hams and SWL who want to manage a sound card (RX), in a
simple way.
8) correction de "bugs" sur CLOCK 1.5.2

For information, for all the Multipsk exotic modes (PSKFEC31, PSK10, PSKAM, PSK63F,
PSK220F (+DIGISSTV), CCW, MFSK8, THROBX, OLIVIA...), I propose the QRP frequency:
14075Khz USB (AF around 1000Hz), at 17h00 UTC.
Description of the FM HELL mode:

Createad by: Nino Porcino (IZ8BLY) and Murray Greenman (ZL1BPU)
Baud rate: 105 or 245 (only 245 bauds on Multipsk)

Matrix: for FM HELL 105 bauds…height: 6 pixels and width: 7
pixels for FM HELL 245 bauds…height: 7 pixels and width: 14 pixels

Speed: 25 wpm

Modulation: MSK with a "minimum" shift between tones of 122.5 Hz
(at 245 bauds). The white is at the upper frequency and the black
at the lower one.

Receive mode: USB

Character set: all ASCII printable characters except small letters,
carriage return (+ line feed) and error correction character. The used
font (FeldHell) is derived from the font of G3PLX (Peter Martinez),

Shape of pulse: rectangular

Bandwidth: about 130 Hz for 105 bauds and 300 Hz for 245 bauds,

Synchronization: no need, each column is displayed vertically 2 times
(but transmitted once)
Pmean/Ppeak: 1

Lowest S/N : - 10 dB for the 245 bauds mode

Description of the OLIVIA DF ("DeFault mode"):

Creator: Pawel Jalocha SP9VRC in 2005

Baud rate: 31.25

Speed: 2.44 characters/sec so 24 wpm

Modulation: FSK 32 tones (5 bits arranged in a Gray form), with a
shift between tones of 31.25 Hz (1000 Hz bandwidth). A block is
composed of 64 symbols of 5 bits (in other words it is a matrix of 64
columns (following the time) on 5 lines). Each of the 5 block lines of
this block corresponds to a character which has been encoded, on a 64
bits vector, using a Walsh-Hadamard transform to provide a high level
of redundancy.

...........................

Reception mode: sensible to the side (USB or LSB), USB is recommended

Shape of pulse: specific shape (between a Hanning window and a
rectangular window)

Character set: ASCII 7 bits (128 characters)

Bandwidth : 1000 Hz

Synchronization: automatic using the signal

Correction code: no

Convolution code: no

Interleaving: yes, spreading of 5 bits "vertically" in the block,

Scrambling: yes, with a 64 bits sequence applied on each line of the
block but with a delay of 13 bits between two successive lines.

Drift tolerance: 30 Hz/mn

Pmean/Ppeak: 0.76

Lowest S/N: - 12 dB

Note: it exists 39 other Olivia modes (not decoded by Multipsk), from
8 to 256 tones and from 125 to 2000 Hz of bandwidth. All are conceived
in the same way.

Multipsk specificities:
.........................................
- the reception and the transmission can be done everywhere on the
spectrum,
- the search of the Olivia central frequency is done when clicking on
the spectrum. It takes 5 seconds. Afterwards, when decoding, there is
no automatic search but a simple frequency drift following, this to
avoid abrupt frequency variations on events as QRM or QSB,
- an offset between sound cards sampling frequencies inferior or equal
to 1 % is withstood.

Multipsk is free.
