Notes of interest:
5W - SAMOA (Update). Ted, K8AQM, reports that his upcoming trip to 5W
will take place between July 7-21st. He will operate as 5W0TR from
the Samoan Village Resort on 160-10 meters CW/SSB/RTTY and PSK.
He also mentions that they will be active for the IARU Radiosport,
hopefully using the special callsign for the contest only, possibly
5W0XX. All QSLs are via K8AA CBA. They will put the log on the
"Logbook of the World" and eQSL. Also, look for them as KH6BB from
Hawaii, July 5-6th and 22-24th.
GB4- ISLE OF MAN. Members of the Wrexham and District Amateur Radio
Society will be operating from the Isle of Man (IOTA EU-116)
during the period of September 1-8th. The site that will be used
is Scarlett Point, a discontinued Coast Guard lookout tower, approx
1.5 miles South of Castletown, Isle of Man (QRA: IO74, WAB SC26).
Activity will be on all HF Bands, 50 MHz, 70MHz, 144MHz and 432
MHz, at full UK power. The team plans to operate simultaneously on
3 HF Bands (CW, SSB, RTTY, PSK and some SSTV) and 1 VHF Band. They
also plan a high level of activity on the lower HF Bands with
particular attention being paid to 160 and 80 meters.
Callsigns will be: GB4IOM and GB4SPT. Some operations from the
island's mountain will take place, conditions permitting, for SOTA
devotees. QSL via the Bureau or direct to M1LCR (Further details
and a P.O. Box address will be issued later). A number of awards
are planned for working the station, either multiband/multi mode or
a combination, and QSLs will be available for SWLs. Further press
releases will be issued on the following dates: June 7th, July 7th,
August 7th, 14th and 28th. Visit the following Web site for more
details and updates: http://www.gb4iom.co.uk
SPECIAL EVENT. Look for the special event station ED8ERC to be aired
between July 3-10th to celebrate the 2nd Canarias HamRadio Meeting
(II Encuentro de Radioaficionados de Canarias). Activity will be on
all HF bands SSB/CW, possibility of PSK/RTTY and one APRS station
on the air. QSL Info: QRZ.COM. The special station will be operated
by EA8ZS, Gran Canaria DX Group members and others EA8 operators.
VE - CANADA. Fred,VO2/K2FRD, will be QRV from Labrador (VO2) working
in SSB/CW/RTTY/PSK31 on all HF bands and 6m between Jun 1 and
Sep 6. You can find more information online at:
