Notes of interest:
5Z - KENYA. Sigi, DL7DF, will be here on holiday with his XYL between
February 16th and March 1st. He will be active during his free
time as 5Z4HW on all bands (no 160/30/6m ) on SSB, CW, RTTY, PSK31
and SSTV. He will only use a 100w into a GP and wire antennas.
QSL via his home callsign DL7DF.
AY1- SOUTH ORKNEY ISLANDS. Henry, LU4DXU, has arrived on Laurie Island
(South Orkneys) and has started to operate as AY1ZA. He has been
very active on 20 meters SSB. Henry has also been active on 80/40
15/10 meters usually operating split and by the numbers. It was
reported earlier by Dominik, DL5EBE, that Henry's radio is/was
interfering with the commercial HF radio of the base. When both
radios are operating, Henry has to reduce his output to 10-15 watts.
The use of the linear amplifier is only possible when the commercial
radio on Orcadas Base is not operating. However, his digital equip-
ment works fine on AMTOR, RTTY + PSK31. Unfortunately, the conditions
are very poor at the moment.
E3 - ERITREA. Five British radio amateurs (Andy,G3AB, Steve,G3VMW, Alan,
G3XAQ, Rob, GM3YTS, and Steve, G4EDG) will go to Eritrea in mid
February. They will be located in Hotel Nyala in Asmara. They plan
to hit the airwaves with three stations on all bands (160-6m) 24
hours a day for about two weeks. A participation in the ARRL CW DX
Contest is planned as well. These frequencies were announced:
CW: 1828, 3507, 7007, 10107, 14027, 18077, 21027,24897,28027,50107
SSB: 3790, 7070, 14195, 18145, 21195, 24945, 28495 and 50150 kHz;
RTTY/PSK31: 3570, 7037, 10137, 14070, 18097, 21077, 24917, 28107
QSLs via bureau, eQSLs will not be supported.
J7 - DOMINICA, NA-102 Lars, SM0CCM, is active again as J73CCM mainly in
CW on 160-6m but also in RTTY and PSK31 between Feb 5 and Mar 4.
Lars prefers QSL via bureau to his homecall.
KP2- U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS. Harry, W6DXO, will be active as KP2/W6DXO from
the island of St. John (NA-106) from March 14-19th. His activity
will be focused on 17, 12 and 10 meters on SSB and PSK. QSL via his
home callsign W6DXO.
OA - PERU. Look for Jorge, OA4BHY, Pablo, OA4DJW, Sergio, OA4SJ,
Marcial, OA4DM, Hildebrando, OA4BHN and Manual, OA4AHW to be QRV
as OC3I from Los Chimus Island, IOTA SA-074, from February 11 to
16. Activity will be on 80 to 10 meters using CW, SSB, RTTY and
PSK31. QSL via OA4DJW.
T32- EAST KIRIBATI. Gary/KH6GMP and Tuck/KH6DFW will be operating from
Christmas Island from March 1-8th as T32I and T32BI, respectively.
Their activity will be on 40-10 meters (nothing on 75/80m). T32I
will try to be on RTTY and PSK31 at times, but main operations will
be on SSB. Also, look for T32I to be active on 40-10 meters in the
ARRL SSB Contest on March 6-7th. QSL T32I via his home callsign
KH6GMP. QSL T32BI via his home callsign KH6DFW.
