This is also good advice for laptop owners. My own laptop showed poorer and
poorer projected battery life after one years use. I set the power management
to ignore the softwares shut down points (set the shut off to zero) and ran
the laptop to completely flatten the battery. I followed this by recharging it
fully to 100%, after which indicated battery capacity was as good as new.
I suspect the estimated (by the software) capacity drifts over time and I done
the above once a year. The laptop is for the most part used on a mains supply.
Now after four years use the laptop still has close to 100% capacity available
in the battery.
