Hello all,

I'd like to find out if there are any Psion Revo users on packet.

In particular I'd like to find out about interesting software including
anything of use in amateur radio.

Or opinions or problems encountered.

I've had mine for a year now and use it often.

For those not in the know, the Revo is a PDA which although still sold
is not currently activly marketed or continuing to be promoted by Psion.

Psion decided to concentrate on laptop style stuff with the same
EPOC O/S and architecture. They continue to support their PDA's but
do not activly promote them or develop them any longer.

Because of this many retailers are selling Psion PDA's at knockdown
prices.

What was œ425 (Revo Plus like I have) is being sold for as little as
œ120 (Psion Revo plus is 16 Meg as opposed to the the Revo which is 8
meg).

They both have the same operating system which comes with MS OFFICE
style software built in as standard. Database, spreadsheet and Word
are included along with an email program and 2 internet browsers.

The usual "filofax" utils are included as standard like Agenda (diary)
and things like calculator and world time.

For me its like having a pocket laptop. I can do packet with it,the
internet and email. Setup alarms to remind me of important dates and
meetings.

It has an infrared port which I point to my Nokia Phone and access
internet and email whilst not at home. Packet can be done via the
supplied docking cradel which has a 9 pin serial port (though you must
use a null modem adapter to make it work with a tnc).

I use the XTM dos emulator to run my dos programs written for the PC.

I've had mine for a year now and I am glad I bought it.

I also have the "autoroute" program for it and I like the standard
infrared transfer it has where you point and shoot data to another
Psion in seconds.

Programs for the Psion when complied are very small.

The exe file for the web browser being only 100k and the paintbrush
program being only 30kb and yet the same quality asd any pc version !

I like having the real keyboard as well as the stylus input and
thats its about the same size as a bar of chocolate !

Thoughts anyone ?
