PK900 and JVFAX
it is not yet perfectly working,
90 per cent OK
but hope it will be 100 per cent soon .........
PK900 must be only in 9600 bauds for serial link with PC
9600, no parity, 8 bits of data, 1 stop bit.(9600 N 8 1)
19200 or 38400 are implemented but are not working correctly
(due to i suppose bad buffers management in pk900)
in packet high speed 9600 bds, in yapp, it crashes...
in jvfax, at more than 9600 bds, picture transmission is not
working at all....
i wrote a lot of time to AEA tech. dpt
NO INTELLIGENT ANSWERS.................(when answer..)
YOU, PK900 USER, WRITE TO AEA AN ASK FOR SOLUTIONS !!!!!!
we need 38400 bds working for high performances modes.
Nevertheless some parts are working with JVFAX.
PTT and single tones generation are yet working from keyboard
but not from JVfax.
you can try to send tones and actuate ptt from keyboard
with a communication program, send commands:
AW 8
PAR 0
TB 9600
UBIT 5 OFF
UBIT 20 OFF
DIDDLE OFF
RADIO 1

ANALOG
you are now in fax receive mode and can run jvfax for RX only
(jvfax configuration: HAMCOMM, 9600bds )
instead of receive pictureswith jvfax,
if you send X, you will be in tx
send now TRANS for transparent mode,
each key (ascii 0 to 255 or FF) will send a tone (900 to 2493.75 hz)
to come back in rx enter 3 ctrl c's and R

your transceiver is now keyed.
you can go to JVFAX, and send a picture, it works, but
is not of good quality....
to go back in rx, switch off PK900
in may, i wrote to DK8JV to tell him what are the results
of my tests, and show him pictures received from a pk900.
i hope he will find a solution.
I watched serial link with a HP 1640A serial data analyzer
some command characters are sent by jvfax, but not all...
example:
for transmission, the X is transmitted, but not the rest of command string.
only the first character.
for reception, after picture transmission, the 3 ctrl c's and the R are well sent, this is not accepted by pk900 and we now why..
it must be 1 second (if CMDTIME 10) between the last character sent
and the first ctrl c to come back from TRANSPARENT to COMMAND mode.
there are also, perhaps, mistake in the analog translation table in jvfax
for the 128 levels of pk900.
it is why it is not yet working
for today,
