There is an FBB Utillity called PING.
Not all FBB BBSs run it. It's not currently run at GB7DBY.

It works with PERSONAL mail only ( not bulletins ).

How it works :-
You send a personal message to PING @ <DISTANT BBS CALLSIGN>.

When <DISTANT BBS> receives the personal message addressed to PING, it will
automatically send a PERSONAL reply, including *ALL* the R:lines of the
message that was received.

When the original sender of the "SP to PING" gets the reply it will have
the complete set of outward and inward R:lines that give all the routing
and timing information of both inward and outward routes.

If the <DISTANT BBS> does *NOT* have the FBB PING utillity installed, the
message will just sit on the distant BBS unless manually replied to by the
sysop.

If memory serves me it was written by a G7***.
It comes as a package (zipped) that contains both the PING executable and a
help file. The zip file has been sent out a number of times on the packet
network.

I hope this info helps.

73, Pete G6KUI ( Sysop GB7DBY )
