Subject: BayPac TNC and fast serial ports
Has anyone besides me had trouble getting their serial port to talk to
their BayPac TNC ? My BayPac will key the radio but won't exchange
data with a known working packet BBS. The BBS doesn't even hear
my BayPac. I'm using the BayCom v1.6 software and a P100 computer
with 15550 serial ports. The software and TNC have been tested and
proved to work on a friends system. I've run the software under DOS
for Win'95 by restarting the computer in DOS safe mode, I've also
booted the machine in DOS v6.22 and got the same results on both
operating systems.
Any hints as to what I should do next?
TIA.
Bill

A friend of mine was doing the 9600 baud mod on an Alinco DR-1200 data
radio, then decided he wanted to 'un-mod' it back to 1200. In the
process, surface mount capacitor C40 has been damaged. This is on the
bottom board, just slightly left of the gold screw that holds down the
right side of the board. If there's someone out there with a service
manual for this rig who can look up the value of C40 and email that info
to me, I would appreciate it very much. One end of this smd has lost
that part which allows you to solder it to the board, and the radio does
not send any data when transmitting.
