Hi Joshua,

Welcome to the world of Ham Radio. There are several places to get more
info. I suggest www.W5YI.org or www.tapr.org. Now this is not a simple how
to BUT you can get the info there.

I can be contacted direct if you have questions or get stumped...

You dont have to learn morse code (cw) just pass a written test. And the
questions are published with the answers...that's right ...

Subject: Help Seeing Packet Using Kenwood TM-D700A

Hello,

I just purchased a D700A, have all of the connections set as per the manual
but I'm not seeing ANY packet data spewing on my terminal.

I can connect to the TNC on the D700A and can execute commands to it (I get
the 'cmd:' prompt). I am also hearing packet coming across on the freq. I'm
pointing to.

I've selected band "B" as my data band and I'm using HyperTerminal which
accepts the TNC commands (okay).

I'm running Windows 2000 (which shouldn't make any difference) and I have
the data cable connected to the only 9-pin serial port on my PC.

I just do not see any packet data scrolling on my tube.

Any help would be greatlt appreciated.

Thanks & 73,

    W1SMC

Subject: MFJ 1270B to HTX212 help needed

Hi FOlks
Perhaps this group might have more info on this paticular combo.
I aquired a MFJ 1270B with no manual, I looked at Buck Rogers and the MFJ
sites and they have no manuals posted ( as well as Google, altaviata and lycos
searches)

I am hoping someone has the correct DIP switch settings needed. I am
connecting an IBM-PC to a Radio Shack HTX-212 Mobile radio.

If anyone is familiar with these TNC's, I'd love to hear any hints or tips!

73 de Sean
