Subject: KAM+ problem

I've got a KAM+ (version 8.2 firmware) and every time I shut it off (whether
for a few minutes, or 'inadvertantly' as in when a Florida thunderstorm
glitches the power), I LOOSE ALL MY SETTINGS! All messages dissappear from
the PBBS, the KAM reverts to autobaud mode, and even looses my callsign!
(Yes, it also comes up in 'new user' mode too).

I only bought the thing a couple of years ago, so I can't believe the batt.
is dead.

I've looked in the manual several times, for a battery 'jumper', and can't
find one. I've also looked for some sort of setting that might need to be
changed, to prevent this.

Any ideas?

73 and thanks in advance
Joe

This does sound like a bad backup battery. Have you talked to Ken at
Kantronics? I'm sure he can verify this.

Of course you'll have to set AGW by right clicking it after you
runn it. Start by set port and speed to 1200. Be sure to
pick "soundcard" too. Then as it says, close it and restart
(AGW).

Just run your scanners speaker-out into a soundcards Line-In
(left *or* right channel). Then run AGW. Ajust levels and your
in business for recieve. I've had some lock up problems with
AGW. Hopefully you will not. If you do then go with FlexNet.

In any case the physical connection for receive is greatly
simplified.
