Thanks but I AGW works slow and bombs for me. Plus UI view
doesn't transmit. Receives some though. APRS web server works
too.

Maybe in the next versions it will be better.

Ahhemmmm....., no offense, but if your AGW works slow and bombs,
I really doubt that you will get anything working on that eqp OM...

AGW should work on anything.

If your UI-view doesn´t transmit, something is *really* wrong. Whyt not
try to find out what´s wrong, instead of searching for other SW?

Hey everybody! Is there anyone successfully using Flexnet's stuff for
soundcard modem on a Toshiba Laptop using Win98? My problem is,
Flexnet cannot find my ptt or serial ports during boot-up in dos.
Any ideas

Harold,

With most Toshiba laptops (and a lot of other computers running an OEM
version of Windows 98), you cannot access the serial or parallel ports while
running a DOS program in a DOS box under Windows 98.

But if you run DOS programs in DOS (without ever letting windows 98 load),
your DOS programs will work just fine and will be able to access the serial
and parallel ports.

To enter DOS directly, hold down the CTRL key at start-up and then select
COMMAND PROMPT ONLY on the menu that appears.

If the DOS program requires a mouse, you may have to first load the mouse
driver by typing MOUSE at the DOS prompt before loading the DOS program.

With my Toshiba laptop, I need to do this for ALL of my DOS programs that
use the serial and parallel ports (e.g. HOSTMASTER II terminal Program, DOS
SSTV programs using a HAMCOMM interface, Baycomm etc).

You can find more information on this quirk with Toshiba computers on
Toshiba's web site.

I suspect that FLEXNET is a DOS program or uses a DOS program to access the
serial ports etc.

Perhaps the long awaited Windows 98 version of Flexnet will solve your
problem.

If you set WIN 98 to disable ports as well as the soundcard then
it may turn off the port in your notebooks cmos set-up.

Go into your Toshiba setup at turn on. Set the comm port on.
Don't disable it in your win 98 "soundcard configuration".

So "remove" the soundcard in your windoze 98 "sounndcard
configuration" as recomended but not the com port. This may not
be perfect but it works for me. It just will *not* work with COM
disabled in a WIN 98 configuration.
