Subject: Help Please - Sound Card Questions
I recently downloaded the AGW packet engine for sound card. When starting
the engine, I get a pop-up box saying "Your soundcard driver cannot support
wav format." My soundcard is a recent soundblaster card, which works will
with PSK, RITTY, etc., and certainly has wav file capability, so my guess is
that I am doing something wrong with the packet engine. Anyone have any
ideas or other sound card based packet program suggestions? I would like to
try the mode, but don't want to dive in with a hard-wired TNC at this stage
if I can avoid it.
Thanks.

Joe,
Are you running any other sound-related software at the same time?

Maybe what you are seeing is compressed data being sent between BBS's. The
packet headers will look OK, but the contents will be unreadable on your
screen. Try connecting to one of the stations you hear and see what happens.
The BBS's on the HF network I'm on will allow anyone to connect to them.
The URL below will point you to a map of our network. From all the off (our)
freq packet stations I could hear last night (~1200utc) I'd say the band
(20M) was open in your direction.
