It's a bit vague -- basically, the packet standby pin IS the PTT
pin, and it works just like on any other radio -- ground it to
transmit. The manual doesn't really spell this out at all, though.

I have the V7A working on packet just fine with my 1270B. I bought
the Kenwood PG-4C (I think it is), and put the 5-pin DIN for the 1270B
on myself.
