Have you checked the port settings in fbb?
There is examples of proper settings in the fbb7 docs.

A more serious problem is the bug in bpq that makes it possible to hang
the node by trying to connect a call that contains spaces via the node.
To prevent that from happening msut you disable the node function of bpq
and the gateway in fbb.
So bpq is rather worthless as node, bpq have been a bad choice for the
last ten years, but this makes it totally useless.
Not much to do about it more than to use another node.
As long as you use bpq, don't get to many enamies!

Since you have a tiny2 and can use 6pack instead of kiss can you use
flexnet. Works much better than any bpq.

One common problem the first time out is having the mark/space inverted.
I don't have an MFJ, but if it's like most other TNCs, there should be a
command to invert them.

I use an MFJ-1274 and for the program I use Paket 6.2, and they work great
with HF. you cant find any tuning beacons, but you have to use the stations
that are transmitting to other stations. On mine you have to have the baud
rate from the TNC to the radio at 300, and there is a switch that you have
to have set to HF instead of VHF. From the TNC to the computer the baud rate
is at 9600, and the terminal program baud rate is at 9600 also. IF you dont
have Paket 6.2, I can send a copy via e-mail
