Subject: APRS for X Windows on Linux

Hi,

I've been dabbling in APRS for a while now, and have used WinAPRS, but
recently built a Redhat 5.2 Linux laptop. I would like to use this
for APRS operation. I have recently found information about a
XWindows port of win/macAPRS software that is currently in
development. The info I had found was updated last May at
aprs.rutgers.edu. and talked about a working "alpha" version at the
time the page was written. It also indicated that a beta release may
be due in June, but that's about all. I can't seem to find anything
more recent about this software. Does anyone know what the current
status is of the development project, and if so, when we may expect a
1.0 release of said software?

Thanks,

Steve

Subject: KPC-3 And multi-line beacon

Hi all,

Ive been inactive on packet for about a year, but last year I remember having
set my tnc, a KPC-3 w/v6 firmware so that my beacon was on several lines ie...

MYCALL>BEACON
This would be line 1
This would be line 2
Etc etc etc

would be what showd on any receiver's screens (as well as my own)

This was done in a script (paket v6.1 dos) using codes such as ^M to add the
carriage return to the beacon text. Unfortunately I cant get this to work this
year and cannot locate my old scripts. And I know this worked great last year.

Does anyone have any idea how I would do this?

Thanks

MC

You need to send the pass character (usually ctrl-V) prior to the
carriage return.
