This should get Charles frothing at the mouth....

Basically, a lot of the new DSL technologies are using HF
bands for their carriers. Imagine HF being transmitted over
all the twisted-pair copper in your area.

As of right now, kurt@cs.tamu.edu should be changed to
wb5bbw@airmail.net. Forwarding will be in effect for a while.

And, me, suddenly cable modems don't look so bad. At least, the cable TV
system has to be responsible for 'leakage' out on to the radio spectrum. I
don't
see why the phone company should be exempt from all this -- except for maybe
that they're a little better at managing, the, err, political, situation.
Seems to me,
if the phone companies want high bandwidth internet service, they should put
in fiber.

Interestingly, during Pacificon, a couple people brought up this issue
during question
and answer periods with the ARRL and Riley Hollingsworth, and every time
this
was mentioned in the public group, the speakers starting talking about the
3.520mhz cable tv interference issue -- which was kind of a weird
non-sequitor.
So, I'm not quite sure what's going on -- if this is real or what. Maybe
these guys
hadn't read the hamradio-online article.
