Nigel,

I believe a program that may be of interest is "GeoClock", which shows the
geographic location of sunrise/sunset in various areas of the world. It's
quite useful for looking at possible grey-line DXing, as well as locations
that might have sunrise enhancement of signals, and those experiencing
sunset enhancement.

Check http://www.clark.net/pub/bblake/geoclock

Registering the program provides more detailed maps, which can be extremely
useful in better understanding propagation possibilities, if you know the
transmitter site in question.

Borrow a copy of a nautical almanac. It's not too easy to use on a daily
basis, for different locations, but you can get there.
Don't forget that the sun is not very regular - it doesn't keep good
time.
(For times of sunrise/sunset at any location et. al. calcmenu.zip from
my web page (http://www.g4egg.demon.co.uk may be interesting.))

Cheers,

TCP/IP over Radio hm!!!! Are you stacked with DOS old fashioned
programs(NOS)? Are you afraid to use other operating systems (LINUX)? The
nightmare of configuring the software. Now its the time. AGW Packet Engine
now lets you use all the WIN95 and WIN98 Internet available software.
Thousands of programs to choose

Hello Gary:

The PK-232 upgrades are copyrighted by Timewave Technology. Have a look at
what is available from http://www.timewave.com

The latest upgrade is the PK-232/DSP which includes Gateway,APRS and DSP.
The complete upgrade is $125 plus $5 S/H.

You might also want to try the demo version of PK TERM 98 available at the
same URL

You might try a torroid in the 12v power cord close to the PK-232. Also check
that the radio/TNC cable is well shielded..

Subject: unix tnc software?

If you can get your hands on penguin (ie linux) for old spacs and use the
ax25 utils you'll get a fair share of terminal applications for use with
your packet modem(s)... maybe these utils compile under solaris as well *i
don't know*
