Assuming you are using a Wintel platform, it may be a PC problem rather than a
packet radio problem.  It may mean you need to update your sound card driver,
or
that there is a conflict in the drivers you have installed.  Check the website
maintained by your the manufacturer of your sound card, or check the Microsoft
website for generic drivers that might help.
