Let me make this simple (how I did it):
1) Get HamU. shareware and study for no code technician for a month
every night for an hour or so. Find a local HAM club and just ask how to
get you license. VERY minimal fee.
2) Get a little mobile radio (ICOM is good) and a good power supply. Get
a Ringo Ranger II antenna. Get a little modem like a Baycom or build it
or use a Sound Blaster (look it up).
3) Get the appropriate software and become one with the software.
Heck, I'm a newbie and this is all controversial at best but my station
kicks butt. I'm into it for about $300 because I had the power supply,
coax, connecters, and an SWR meter (look it up).

Yes,
This is very well possible..
In fact, try a telnet to port 9663 of rbr.dynip.com.
I run such a gate on my linuxbox.
At this moment the ax25 port is not active because the antenna is down but
the idea is still working..

It's done all the time. Therefore, it must be possible.

Hi!
Can anyone please help me with a copy of the Swedish version?
I have a British one - made by G7PFT - which just deletes the incoming PING
message if it contains anything but nothing in the text.
