I was using BPQ with 2baycoms and a tnc in kiss mode but I have purchased a
YAM 9K6/1K2 tnc and a 2port baycom board.
But I was told DOS cannot see over 4comm ports and BPQ cannot talk to a YAM.
So ware does that leave me, what do other nodes use out there please if poss
leave a telephone number as I would like to ask a few questions regarding
the subject

For the record, FM1000 is the family: you want and FM1100

You would find it hard to improve on the Motorolla MC80 for 9k6. Make
sure it has a 25k/c filter. This rigs biggest advantage is the fact
that it generates "true" fm. Mods for 9k6 packet are easy and there
are a lot of locals here who can offer advice.
GWM are selling 2m band rigs for 25 ukp. If you want one for 70cm,
make sure you get a "T" band rig and not a "U" band version - the
difference is that you will need to change about 17 capacitors in a
"U" band wheras a "T" bander will tune up on 70cm, no problems.

Hello,
I modified my 1224 interface many years ago to have a RS232 interface that
would work directly with my IBM. The software I used was PCRTTY, a dos
program that emulated the Baudot terminal. I also used TOR308 that allowed
ASCII/BAUDOT/AMTOR through the interface.
There was also a PC based RTTYBBS written by a local VK5 amateur that had a
MAIL link to a Packet system. This worked very well but the users on rtty
soon migrated to Packet and the RTTYBBS was left with no users and died a
quick death.
Just my 2c worth.

Mark,
Although I haven't been active in packet for a few years now,
my portable packet setup was an RS 100 + Yaesu 411E + Kam KPC-3 +
roll-up twin-lead J-pole. Everything fit in the 100's carrying
case, and it did fine for basic packet work.
