Helpful hint: Try listening to the normal Packet freqs on an actual Radio.

If you do that, it's hard to AVOID hearing a number of Packet stations.

Assuming you are not living in a total vacuum and are a Ham, it's hard to
imagine how you could be having trouble figuring out the Packet freqs.
Besides being listed in numerous publications for Hams including license
study guides, just about any Ham there in the NY City area should be able to
help you with this info in about two seconds. Get out and socialize every
now and then. Amateur Packet Radio in particular is a cooperative venture.
If you are a "lone wolf", you've just picked the wrong hobby.

Are you really so isolated/insulated from your fellow NYC hams that even
THIS bit of basic information is beyond you? -- Sounds like you must be into
Amateur tcpip.

Helpful hint: People in Ham Radio who know about tcpip are a dime a dozen.
If you are not REALLY interested in Radio and the fraternity of your fellow
Hams, just what the heck did you get a Ham ticket for?

Call the chamber of commerce. Ask for representatives of the local Ham
clubs. Call one up; Go to the meetings. Meet a few Hams, and get to know
them. Learn something.

It won't hurt you - Honest!

Subject: Regen packet nodes

Does anyone have real operating experience of running a regen packet
node?

I run a number of TheNet nodes and am considering putting on a regen
node.

In particular I am interested in:

        1) What Hardware / Software you are running
        2) Experience of effective channel occupancy
        3) Number of users using the system
        4) Feed back from users on how they feel it is compared with
other shared links.

Any references on articles on the subject that you have.

Many thanks
--

Yes I know that!
I think you've answered my question.
I have an old VT100 terminal running a TNC and a home brew 2m rig.
so all I need is the VT100 terminal and a D7?
Is that correct.
something that talks RS232 but needs no intelegence.
So it is a real Terminal Node Controler?
