recently came up with a kantronics dvr 2-2 data radio.

Anyone have a manual that I could get a photo copy of?

Still waiting for an answer from kantronics after a week.

tnx

What are these things worth? I still have one (never really used it) around
here some place.

To a 6pack tnc ring works very good and is the solution that I
recommend.
There are some different packet drivers and nodes that can be used with
the 6pack tnc computer protocol, but flexnet is the best of them and the
one I would recommend you to used.

You can attach up to eight tncs (but the comport speed useable
limits) and thanks to 6pack is the problems of kiss avoided.
For this to work as good as possible is a 16550A comport needed.
This solution will make the tncs work as good as if one comport was used
for each tnc, none of the other solutions mentioned bellow will be that
good.

The diode matrix solution of bpq and some other nodes for using many
kiss tncs connected to one comport is nothing I would recommend you to
use. Its performance is very poor, and to use kiss is never good.
This kiss version is called bpqkiss, xkiss (by kantronics), bpq multidrop
kiss and also some other names are used, but what every name used doesn't
it work very well.

Also thenetnode lets you connect many kiss tncs to one comport, it uses
some sort of kiss token ring. But since kiss is no good will neither this
solution work very good even if it is better than bpqs diode martix.

Depends what you are running for your TNC communications drivers. BPQ for
example is quite happy to share the same IRQ between several serial
ports. For example, I have used Com4 and Com5 both on IRQ10 which worked
very well. Most consumer OS's are also quite happy sharing IRQ's provided
that both IRQ's are used by the same application. WinNT is the main
exception, it will NOT allow shared IRQ's (or at least I haven't figured
out how to do it)!
