Hi Mike,
Have you got the correct pin configuration on the cable?
Have you got the correct data rate / COM port set in HRD/MixW?
According to the FT-450 CAT Operation Reference Book (download it at the
URL below!) you need to make sure the cable you are using is a STANDARD
serial cable and not a null modem cable.
As for the data rate, make sure the CATRATE in the FT-450's menu and the
baud rate in HRD/MixW agree. It might be worth having a play with the
other two CAT related settings in the menu whilst you're at it (CAT RTS -
ON/OFF and CAT TOT - Time out time 10/100/1000/3000 mSec)
